We awoke early and began packing up, while Nikki got hubby and kids ready for work and school. We had a quick bite to eat for breakfast and then Nikki drove us from
Basingstoke into London, where we caught a train at Raynes Park station. She got us another groupsave pass for rail and tube. We said our goodbyes and then rode the train to Clapham Junction station where we caught a new train to Victoria Station. It had started to rain when we arrived and started walking to our hotel. Luckily it was a short walk though. We checked in early and the staff was very friendly. We put up our stuff in the room and left to explore London again. My wife and I had been before so this was mostly for our daughter.
Our first stop was a short walk to
Buckingham Palace, where we did the usual photo ops out in front of the gate. Next we walked through St. James's Park towards Westminster Abbey and Big Ben. The weather was holding out so we were very glad for that! We did the usual photo ops at Big Ben and then walked over the Westminster Bridge. We were
getting hungry so we ate a good meal at Ned's Noodle Bar on Belvedere Road. I had a Singapore noodles with tofu. The sun had come out after our lunch so we walked over to the London Eye. If the line was short, we would ride it. Well, the line was short so we rode it! It was ok in my opinion. I am glad I did it but thought it was just ok.
Our next stop was to walk across the Hungerford Bridge to the Embankment Tube stop, where we caught the District Line to Tower Hill. Once there, we walked down to the Thames, for more photo ops. It was too late to visit the Tower so we just viewed it from the outside and also saw the Tower Bridge. It was now about 5 pm, so we headed towards the meet up spot near Covenant Gardens. We actually took the Tube to
Leicester Square and then had a hard time finding the meet up spot at The Porterhouse. We found it soon enough but were late. The Porterhouse was actually the pre-meet spot and they did not allow children inside so I went in and told Danik.
Then we all went out so we could meet everyone else at the Fire and Stone that was just down the street. The TBs started showing up and we went inside for dinner. It was a really cool place and I had a difficult time deciding on my pizza choice. The pizzas are named for different cities and they are made with ingredients that pertain to that city. I chose the Cairo pizza. It had goats cheese, pine nuts, basil pesto, red peppers, caramelized onions, and roasted courgetes. I liked it and it was very filling. My wife chose the San Sebastian pizza and said it was very good too. We stayed in there, eating, drinking, and chatting for a few hours. I must say that I met some great new friends that night.
After dinner, we all left on our separate ways. We walked back towards Leicester Square to get the Tube back to Victoria. It was pouring rain now and we were soaked. We made it back to our hotel and hung stuff up to dry out and went to sleep. It would be an early morning the next day.
