London in Spring
who say's it's drab and grey??? I have been in the UK for exactly 1 week and 6 days and have managed to fit a lot in. So far it has been busy busy busy... so much to do in such a little time! Lots of sightseeing, shopping, 2 visits to Brighton, nights out, dinners, lunches, moving house, tube rides, bus rides, overlander train trips... you name it!
London is absolutely beautiful!!! I love it so much! Anyone who says it is drab and depressing, obviously hasn't been here in Spring. The weather has been perfect and there are blossoms and new leaves on all the trees and gorgeous flowers in all the gardens... so many colours! From the moment I stepped off the tube in Vauxhall (where Tim was living) I was hooked. There is just so much to see and do and everything is just... big! Even a trip to the local supermarket was exciting!
I had a great day out sightseeing with Juany (wish u were here too KT!!!) and we saw so much! Being the London virgin that I am, I wanted to see as much as possible of the typical touristy things- Big Ben, the Houses of Parliament, the Thames (which I never knew was the same river as the one you pronounce the Temmes... oops! silly me but you live n learn!), Buckingham Palace, etc etc. We did 4 hours and 15 mins of walking that day only sitting down for 5 mins!!! I sighted my first ever squirrel that day too!
Since then Tim, Juany and I have also covered a trip to Green Park and Hyde Park and lots more.
I have also fallen in love with the shopping over here (which is very difficult on a traveller's budget)! I have decided to come back one day when I have a very rich husband and nothing to do but shop, eat and drink (hope ur saving hard TY)! My first experience was when Lee and I got lost in Top Shop for over 2 hours and still didn't cover everything. For those of u who don't know, Top Shop is like a massive apartment store purely for girls... I'm talking 3 levels of clothes, shoes, accessories and make up (plus an extra floor called Top Man as well)! Selfridges also took my breath away. This is 5 star shopping which makes David Jones look like a trip to KMart! I walked out of there... bags swinging, hair curled by a GHD demo chic, feeling like a scene out of Pretty Woman!
My trip to Brighton was lots of fun! My new adoptive housemates and I (Tim, JB and Becky) plus Jess and Chris all landed at the Brighton crew's household (Lee, Sas, Juz, Rocco (Adrian) and Al) for the weekend. Krafty Kutz were playing at a venue down on Brighton Beach called Concorde 2 and what a awesome night we had!!! A few drinks and b’day celebrations, for Becky, first and then off to wiggle the night away. Thanks to our Brighton Buddies for housing us all!
Back to London and the days that followed were spent packing and cleaning, as Tim prepared to move out of his apartment on Heyford Ave. We scrubbed and washed and cleaned and wiped until it shone "like the top of the Chrysler building"! The bathroom floor is something I will continue to see in my nightmares for a long, long time! This, however, declared us officially homeless (well over here for me anyway!) and we set off on another adventure to Brighton, this time with the one and only Dan Juan in tow as a surprise guest!
This visit allowed me to see a bit more of Brighton than the last time and it truly is a magnificent place. It is so pretty and quaint, yet so action packed and exciting. Brighton Beach is awesome and the pier was lots of fun. If I had more time here I am sure I could get lost in the boutique- lined laneways for days! So many different little shops and coffee shops and classy little bars. There are so many different places to eat and drink you would never get bored here! It was such a sunny day that we even fit in a bit of sun soaking on the beach after lunch.
This brings me up til today and altho I have had to briefen it a lot, there is still quite a lot to read, so if you have made it this far, thanks for your time, I hope it was worthwhile... there's nothing worse than a long and boring email you feel obliged to read!!! If it was all too much for you and you just skimmed down to here now... no worries check out my photos and I'll never know the difference!!!!
Tomorrow morning we are back to London to stay with Jilbert for the weekend. He is DJing at some club tomorrow night so I am looking forward to that!
Then Monday Tim and I must farewell our beloved travel companion, Juany, and our trio becomes a duo as we set off for Croatia! We will miss him as it has been nothing but good times for the three of us and I wouldn't trade any part of it for anything in the world!
