It's the second to last day of my trip and I finally left on time. I’m starting to get the hang of this. I caught the Metro and made it to the airport by 8:00 am, almost two hours early for my flight. Nothing was open when I left the hostel so I only ate a croissant from a stand in the Metro up until that point. I picked the healthiest thing I could find at the airport which turned out oddly to be a chicken salad from burger king. Before I boarded the plane I messaged a friend who lives in London. We actually met in Japan in 2015 when we were both travelling. We planned to meet up around 5:30 pm. The flight was uneventful other seeing many other La Tomatina participants with their wristbands still attached. I was standing in line for the London Express bus and this idiot cut in front of me as if I wasn't there. I told the ticket agent “actually I was next because I waited my turn like a decent person would”. Outside it was quite cool and overcast. It was a rude awakening that it's almost September. We waited for our
bus at the depot and after 25 minutes it was announced that it had been cancelled. I waited for another one that still went to central London but it stopped a bit further from the hostel. My phone was going to die before day’s end if I didn't charge it. On the bus I forgot we were in the UK now and they have different outlets. I left that part of adaptor in my suitcase which was stored down below. The woman, Kinga sitting beside me saw this and offer her portable battery pack to me. We ended up talking the entire bus ride into town. Using the tube felt like I was home again. Everything felt familiar and getting place to place was seamless. Didn't even have to top up my Oyster Card as I still had some credit on it. I checked into the hostel and dropped my bags off. I was really hungry and wanted to get some of my favourites in London. I was going to try to stuff my face in the seven hours I had to eat Mexican, Indian, fish and chips, and bangers and mash. I went to Wahaca and ate way too
much considering I was meeting Sawan in two hours for Indian at Dishoom. Before dinner I went to Uniqlo trying to find shorts but none of the locations had much. I didn't find it nearly as good as their Japanese stores. It was pretty cool to meet up with Sawan. We hung out in Sapporo for three days more than two years ago. Yet, I could just message him and we were able to meet and catch up. That's what so neat about traveling. The connections you make with people. Fun fact: Dishoom that came so highly recommended by people was started by Sawan’s great uncle. After dinner I bought some things for family and walked around my favourite part of the city. Oxford and Picadilly Circus have this electric atmosphere that I can't get enough of. I love London and I wish I could live there for a period. I was feeling ready to go home but the city was pulling me in. I think it holds a special place inside of me because it was the first overseas trip I had done. I made a stop at Tesco for some snacks for the next day. I couldn't resist
buying a couple of Tesco scotch eggs one last time. At the hostel I packed and chatted a bit with the two French girls in my room. For the third day in a row I'd have to wake up around 6:00 am.
