Hey folks,
I have only 8 minutes to write this so I will highlight what we did in the first 3 days of our journey around Europe and North Africa.
Day 1-2:
Arrived at the airport in Montreal way too early. We walk around for 30 minutes, and went to an expensive table to watch the first half of the Germany WC game.
At the half we went in line for check in and some lady told us that we were upgrade to Air Can first class and will be landing in Heathrow. It was the best news I had in a long time and was very happy to fallow her to the Air transat desk. But, yes there is a but, once we made it there (at the very end of the terminal), an other lady told us that it was no longer working and that we will be in the plane we book for. Just to tell you how cheap a Thomas Cook flight can be, all the tvs were black and white tv.
Anyway, we left Mtl about 40 min late and made it to Gatwick by 6h30. Paseport check was pretty fast
this time tho. We then chose the cheap option (not that cheap 11.25£) and took the victoria line to London. We walk around Green Park, trafalgar square and visit the National Gallery in an huge jetlag mode. This time I really felt it. We went to bed at 3pm for a little nap and left our upgrade room (still a bad hostel, I will talk about it later*) around 6pm to go eat and went to the Casino.
*PiccadillyBackpackers hostel:
Its a huge hostel on 11 floor. I will try not to be too hard. I can describe this place as a poor student residence. Not clean at all. Cheaper that everywhere else in the area. Security is ok. Front desk is horrible. No services at all.
So why do I still always book here. First of all its cheap, 11£ a night for a 10 beds dorm. Its in one of the best area of London. You can save a lot on the very nice but expensive London tube. They always upgrade you and they have nice lockers in some of there rooms (You always have to fight for those rooms tho). However, I still asking
myself why I am booking here.
Day 3:
Wake up early like 4am. Not able to sleep at all. Made some research on how to get a working visa for the uk from here without any adress; by the way if find the inquiries e-mail adress please send it to me. After an hour of not doing much (Chloe was sleeping), I went for a walk and found a great super market were I bought all my meals today. Around 8h00 we left the hostel and walk to Covent Garden. Good knows how much I love this place. I highly recommend it to anyone who love art (music). Anyway, we kept on walking and visited the British museum. It took us longer that expected and miss the New Europe free London tour which we will do tomorow. After a nap (again!), we watch the Brazil game in the lounge, drinking a beer (Newcastle).
Tomorow:
We are planning on taking the free tour early in the moning and spent the afternoon in the Tate Modern Museum. We are suppose to meet a friend of mine during the evening for a drink or two.
By the
way I won 95£ at the Casino.
Cheers!
Nick
