I have been back home in London and the Friday morning seemed like a great opportunity for me to once again take to my blog. The weather here could not be more different from the type of sunny weather I experienced during my recent trip to the Middle East; and it’s not a long time before the chilly winter is upon the UK. From out of my window when I see flights take off, I look back on my trip and cannot help but gloat about my decision to book air tickets to the destinations I visited.
All rejuvenated and having attended to important chores here in London, I am now focussed and looking forward to my next holiday that starts with
India in the coming week. While my mid-haul middle-east holiday was a result of irresistible and impulsive wanderlust, this India holiday has been painstakingly planned and booked. Interestingly, India is just a part of the bigger holiday itinerary that will include Far East destinations as add-on! The holiday starts with three week long stint with India arriving on flights to the country’s capital
New Delhi, where I will be joined by my British-Indian friend Joshua - my co-traveller throughout the holiday.
We plan to spend our time at all the destinations that we visit in India and beyond, like a local. For this reason, all that we have arranged for are the flights and Indian visa. We booked our flight tickets from London, return tickets from India through
Travel Trolley for a great bargain; our onward flights from Chennai to Bangkok with the low cost carrier Air Asia. Besides, we have also arranged for the Indian visa which British nationals have to procure before departure. All destinations we are taking flights to in the Far East allow visa on arrival.
As for accommodation, I intend to take up a homestay instead of checking into a hotel at Delhi. Further, we will make on-spot booking for our budget accommodations for the remaining destinations in India and beyond. I am glad that travellers like me have highly resourceful travel websites viz. Tripadvisor and Couchsurfing that there is simply no dearth of sane advice and help on booking cheap air tickets for flights as well as accommodation for a budget holiday.
As a hint of our itinerary in India, after arriving on flights to Delhi, we have dedicated a week each for exploring the enchanting North India (Delhi, Agra and Rajasthan), West India (Mumbai, Goa) and South India (Kerala).
Being mindful of any possible contingencies or change in plans, we ensured that our flight tickets allow us flexibility of changing the travel dates. Most will agree that the destinations we are covering on this holiday are spectacular and can easily compel anyone to stay longer!
Watch out for more on my upcoming holiday to Asia in the blog that follows.
