It is Saturday here in Bayswater, London and it is going to be a good one.
Yesterday morning we took a jog through Hyde Park, which is by far my most favorite place here in the city. It is such an escape from the busy life with all the trees, ponds, and puppies!
We then jumped on the Tube over to South Kensington for a Dooner. Yelp informed us that it was one of the best in the city, Miles figured it would be in the budget and delicious so I was on board.
Kensington is a magical place filled with white buildings and black doors. It is clear that more of the posh, and well to do live here.
The Dooner was delicious, located in a tiny shop that many may just pass up, we ordered and were very satisfied.
We had made plans to find an Irish Sports Pub, O’neils, for the match. When we walked to the address listed on line we found it to be an abandoned building. We decided to wonder for something else.
We stumbled upon a bar called Goat’n’Boots. It was a very cute spot with weathered wood tables, comfortable benches, and personality.
Miles and I noticed a Pimms special on the chalk board. We had seen Pimm’s before but still had no idea what it was. I walked up and inquired with the bar tender, he spoke little English, but assured me that it was refreshing and great drink. He was right. He fixed our jug (pitcher) up with mint leaves, lemonade, cucumbers, strawberries, orange and lemon slices, and two tumblers. It was SO good and the perfect afternoon drink to enjoy watching hours of tennis.
We made friends! A lovely girl named Allison, who was from D.C., and a British fellow who had THE WORST teeth. I realized if you just laughed when he did communication was fine. Allison is studying public health care and was really nice and informative about some different things in the city and invited us to a BBQ for the 4th in Regent Park. She discovered that Miles and I were not dating, it happens everywhere we go….we exchanged emails and will hopefully catch up with here on Sunday!
We tried to make it all the way through Murrays match but siesta time was creeping on us.
We made our way back for a nap
and the end of the game in the room. We woke up a couple hours later and meandered down to the local grocery store. We bought some sandwich fixings, a bottle of wine and went down to the Park to savor the last hour of daylight. It was a great way to finish up the day.
Today we are going to the wireless festival to enjoy music and a bit of fun. It starts at 2, Ke$ha is going to be there. I’m bringing piles of Glitter.
And don’t worry Mom, we made a reservation for Di Bucco on Monday ☺
