Well, well, well, it seems that I have mildly failed on the Blog expose of mine. Or it could be thought of as a success that I was having SUCH a good time that I just couldn’t fit it the time. Or we could think about the reality of the situation…who really thought that I was going to make it all the way through? If any of you said yes, Kudos to you! As of now I am recovering from a violent fever that left me sleepless for two days, so while everyone is out downtown for our last week, I am a pale, medicated student. As awful as it sounds, this is the first time I have been alone since my arrival, and my alone time is greatly valued. Therefore I look at tonight as ... read more

Europe » Italy » Aosta Valley » Cogne July 10th 2011

Where did I leave off, I have to apologize for the last post….seeing that I probably could of waited for sobriety to explain my travels. I have just got home from school, and I can say that Italian is not an easy language. This weekend was wonderful, and a part of me wishes I were traveling between tiny cities with no real perception of time. Aosta in an hour and a half with no real plan of what we were going to do. The tiny town draws many tourists, but the cobble stone roads, colorful painted houses, and quaint cafes finally gave me the real stereotypical impression of Italy. Aosta is home to numerous roman ruins; the Roman theater is impressive with the view of the Alps from behind. The air was clean, the sun was ... read more

Ciao! Sorry for the absence. I have been trying to completely immerse myself in the Italian world that I am now apart of, which takes me some time because I am a little stand off-is at first. My apartment is great, way bigger than I expected with a kitchen and even sitting room. It is walking distance to the school, and near a great super market. There are 3 sections that students live in: downtown, midtown, and school area. The different locations have made it hard to form a great relationship with everyone in the program, but I have come to find out that it’s probably for the best. My roommate is amazing; she is from Santa Cruz and goes to Poly. Her name is Nikki and she is relaxed with quite and edge and has ... read more

My last day in London. I have to thank my wonderful running shoes for taking me on a glorious jog along the Thames River. I have included some pictures of my glorious Hostel. Super Fancy. I wondered through Borough Market. I have to say the highlight was the CHEESE STORE. Wheels of cheese were stacked to the ceiling, it was AMAZING, and the smell was…well you could tell it was a cheese market. I went to the Tate Modern Museum to check out some different artwork. I didn’t know I would find works by Monet, Dali, and Picasso. One of the most interesting pieces was a pile of sunflower husks. It was done by Ai Weiwei….it turns out every single husk is actually handmade out of porcelain. The artist was arrested in China for his liberal ... read more

Spent my first night in a Hostel. I decided upon St Christopher’s Inn primarily because it was located so close to Milo, it is just a 5-minute walk from his Bankside house…which is VERY nice compared to my conditions. One of the perks of this place is the Bar, so I can’t really complain. Yesterday was hard after our splurge for the Wireless Festival, but totally worth it. Milo and I picked up some nice beverages from the store, and then proceeded to finish them all prior to our afternoon. We showed up at 3 ready for fun, and it is what we got. What I didn’t know was that in England you could bring open containers and food into venues. America’s really blowing it on this one. They open your drink and smell it for ... read more

I forgot to add our trip to the Imperial War Museum. Milo couldn't move in till 6 pm, we had some time to kill and took the tube over to super big guns, and air planes, submarines, and even trenches!! We both agreed our 30 minute trip could of been extended for a couple hours. Miles then also said that. "Now that is the way to do a museum." ...we are a little different.... read more

It is Saturday here in Bayswater, London and it is going to be a good one. Yesterday morning we took a jog through Hyde Park, which is by far my most favorite place here in the city. It is such an escape from the busy life with all the trees, ponds, and puppies! We then jumped on the Tube over to South Kensington for a Dooner. Yelp informed us that it was one of the best in the city, Miles figured it would be in the budget and delicious so I was on board. Kensington is a magical place filled with white buildings and black doors. It is clear that more of the posh, and well to do live here. The Dooner was delicious, located in a tiny shop that many may just pass up, we ... read more

Europe » United Kingdom » England » Greater London » Camden Town June 30th 2011

Turns out Jet Lag is some serious stuff. Jumping from Hawaii to London really confuses the body. Miles and I woke up ready for life this morning at 5:30 am. You would think that maybe something would be available to do but here people start everything a little bit later. We ended up taking the tube to Camden Town. A few things that we noticed… 1. If it is before 9 am, bring a paper to read on the Tube, everybody is doing it. 2. Mixed Drinks come in the can, yes Dad you’re favorite Gin and Tonic is a close as a can open away. 3. Nothing really opens and starts jumping till like 1030/11 4. Entertainment can be found by walking through the super market Brits can say just about anything and it can ... read more

We made it to London, we have settled currently at the Byron Hotel that is a street away from Hyde Park. It is currently 8:16 PM, but we do not have Internet at the hotel, so this will be posted at a later date. Miles and I have enjoyed a “Pub” lunch, included with a pint of beer and a stroll through Hyde Park. Mom you would of been impressed with the Fish ’n’ Chips, really hit the spot. The walk was shortened once we realized that Hyde park could take an hour (on the small side) round trip to figure out exactly where and which way we need to go. The park feels like a less developed Central Park, only they have a merry-go-round, and therefore automatically wins the awesome award. We made it back ... read more
