What the place is all about, young people and the classic old building with the spires..
Back into the London life now just after a month has ticket past.. Got a great place to live in which is close to the city centre, the suburb is called Acton and on the bike it is 15 minutes to the centre of town so quite good. Yeah have the bike again and having near death experiences all the time once again. Na it is good fun cruising around the streets and having a look at the place, much better than travelling on the underground I think anyway. The people that I am living with are from all over the world, one Turkish (chef who likes to cook at home and cooks too much, good for me), Italian and two Cambodians so an international house it is. I have seen the girls from Cambodia twice, the Turkish about ten and same with the Italian. They are all never home cause of the crazy hours they are doing but suits me fine to have the place for myself.

Working on a building site once again and getting in the way all the time. Doing quite a lot of new things this time around with more experience so more enjoyable as

well and the days are going quick. It is about 3 flats in the centre of London that I am working on near Regents Park and not too far from the place I was at last year.

Weather.... Well this week Summer has decided to turn up very late mind you, only four weeks ago it snowed in London and around the UK and after that I would rain every single day without fail but the last five days it has been in low 20's so that is all good.

I haven’t really done much sightseeing around London since we did a fair amount last year but trying to get around a few other places. I am mostly trying to get out of the city and visit the surroundings and other cities for the next month and previous few before I head away. A couple of weekends ago I went to Windsor with a dude from Melbourne I met at a pub the week before while watching Carlton beat Collingwood (he is a Collingwood supporter) and he said he would to go see as well so we took our bikes and headed away for a nice relaxing Sunday

Around town
touring around but of course the weather had a different idea! As soon as we were the furthest away from shelter it started to bucket down and we were soaked but that is the UK though. Did the whole tourist thing of the Castle and it was a massive place! The Queen was hanging around there somewhere since the flag was up and it is here favourite place to go on weekends. It is very impressive inside and some of the rooms were just massive with the best decorations around the place. No photos aloud inside though so not to happy with that. One of the rooms caught on fire a couple of years ago, we think Prince Harry was having party and got out of control, and damaged about five rooms even the main dining hall but it has been completely restored not so nothing was missed, they did it all the old traditional ways when rebuilding as well.

Last weekend I headed to Oxford for a couple of nights and doing the couchsurfing once again. The guys I stayed with were just awesome! Two were teaches at the Uni there so had an all access pass to

Shrunken head, read about this in info, scary stuff what this really is!
go everywhere through the place but it would take bloody ages to see all of it. There is also something like 38 collages there in the city so very much a young person town. Very easy to get around by foot and the city is only very small, no bigger than Hobart. The guys took me on a pub crawl one night, some of them were fantastic! Down back alleyways up tiny paths, I would have never found some of them we went to! One had from wall to wall including ceilings the last 5cm of a tie with the student name about it and we found them dating back several hundred years, another had some special going out the back and had 50 wooden drums stacked up with all different beer in each with the hand pump to pour it out. Most had a very low ceiling so bruised head was on the cards the loner the nigh went on. The weirdest thing that I saw though was at the Science Museum and it is called 'shrunken heads' some people could have heard of this but what it is.. Back in the day in South America in the jungle

Summer in London
somewhere when the tribes used to catch an enemy they would be off with the head and have it sitting there... Next a poor slow ass Sloth head would come of or small monkey depending on the size or original head then the scalp taken off both but the human one would be out on hot coals to shrink it. They could also boil it but the hair would fall out then and not look as good. Then the shrunken scalp would be put on the sloth or monkey and it would fit perfect! They looked so real it was scary, I got a couple of photos but they were behind glass so didn't come out to good. They did this to put curses and things on while dancing around a fire and stuff. Well that is about it for Oxford, it was a wonderful place and the old Schools there are still dating back 400-500 hundred years so very impressive! Actually the first teachers to start a School were from France that was 1000 odd years ago when it was on a tiny village. The name Oxford comes from (apparently) well need to know 'ford' means river in French

and one day someone said in French 'the Ox (cow) is near the ford' and someone else just heard Oxford so it came from that.. Not too sure how true that is but the town emblem that has been there for several hundred years has a cow above a swerving line like water so could well be!

Well that is about it for now and could be writing another in a couple more weeks since going away to Cardiff next weekend and then Bath the week after and another place the weekend after that but can’t remember the name now. Good luck to the local lads against Longford this weekend and be talking again soon......
