Sorry i havent updated everyone in a couple of days, but its been a nice slow and quiet week here for jordie and me. We dtarted off on monday going out to a small town called beverely, which is where my mum grew up, or was born, or something like that, so i saw where mum's room was for her first nursing job on Beverely rd, which is more in Hull than beverely, and we saw some really cool churches in beverely, 2 infact, one a Minstistry, the other a Parish, apparently there is a difference or something anyway the minstry or minestry, dont quite know which was really really cool, it is just amazing the artwork and craftmanship involved in a building like this, the stone so old, the stained glass windows so impressive and the woodwork in all the little coves and such is just unbeleivable, they have an archway entrance to the choir part, that is about 5 metres high and 3 or so metres across that is just the most detailed carvings out of real dark wood of little babies, and women holding things and royalty figures standing there, then this stretches around into where the choir
sits, and all above them. There are about 30 seats along each side of the aisle, and above each seat are the most amazing carvings, and not justa couple but hundreds, from the floor to about 3 metres high. And this design isnt just limited to the woodwork, nosiree, the stonework is only marginally bigger, but just as detailed, and this goes inside and outside the chirch, the photo's really dont do it justice, he absolute beauty of the place, and in a reality sense, it shows just how much money the church had when they built things like this, the craftmanship is brilliant, the architecture is brilliant the marble floors, and 6 inch thick steel plated doors that are also designed with all individual masterpieces of bodies and heads and things, it is a little morbid some of it, which sortof surprises me, not many of the statues or anything are smiling, or joyous, which i thought that if they are in a house of god they might possibly feel a little less depressed, meh, jus my opinion, teehee. keeping in chronological disorder here, we stopped in just before the church visit in beverely to a really old pub
that Aunty Sally said she used to stand outside very regularly as a little grl as her father went inside o use the loo for a few hours or so, occasionally bringing here out a lemonade and lollipop, or somehting similar, lol, the pub is just beautiful, and called the Green Dragon, it is really old, i think first openned in like 1746 or something like that according to the menu, and the ceiling is really low, but it is bright and cheerful, which is nothing like the pub we visited after the church, the pub is officially called the white horse, but everyone knows it as nelly's, for obvious reasons that i obviously dont know why, lol, anyway according to aunty sally it was owned by a couple of sister spinnsters until very recently, last 10 or so years, and it was a traditional old pub, so far infact that it didnt even have electricity, and it has barely changed, the only rooms they have electricity in is the bar, where they can process the transactions, and the pool tables and 2 pokies, thats it, the res of the 7 or 8 small rooms are all lit during the
day by gas powered lanterns, and at night those plus candles on the actual tables, there is light! hooray!
From there is was back home for some lovely dinner, and we're eating homecooked meals every day, i swear i am putting on so much freakin weight, so its good i look good in the scarf and coat, lol,
Well that was monday, tuesday i think i was nursing ahangover, and didnt do much, oooh, wait i lie, i spent about 5 hours on the net tryng to sort out accommodation and travel for all of europe, well accommodation for amsterdam, which i now sorted hooray, prices ket changing every 5 minutes so by the time you had a look, came back from another site to look and compare it had changed, really bizarre, anywya, i got that sorted for both of us, and then i booked my Eurail ticket, which gives me 10 days use in 2 months, for $700, bit pricy, but that gets us from amsterdam to vienna in 11.5 hours, which seems fine to me, through 3 countries or something, countriues i tell you! lol, i cant wait, so then its amsterdam vienna, prague, then somewhere then
somewhere then i'm up north for 5 days to visit nads and sweden, then london to visit dad, who is coming over in april, then i fly to turkey, for the coolest trip in a lifetime! with 9 mates from home! hooray,
the rest of the week, which today is thursday afternoon, we have played alot of wii! hooray, go emily for bringing that home, a computer game thingy i actually like, and yeah prettyu much keepin our dollars in the bank and ttying not to spend to much so we have plenty for europe and such! ooohhh, and top gear, there is like 4 hours a day of it on here, admittadly sometimes there the repeat from that morning or 2 days ago, but its so much fun. This week has been really good to give my knees a rest from the hectic weekend, and a chance to breath and know what relaxing is, i havent done it in years, and i finally have no obligations or meetings or responsiblities, well not many compared to 6 months ago, or 2 months ago, i kinda feel free, its pretty good! and although i'm not homesick, i could kill for a
surf at freshy right now!
Luv ya folks!
HUGS ALWAYS
