26.24km!! Our longest section yet ?? with a decent elevation of 640m too. Whilst we were feeling it in our feet towards the end (an achey burn & increasing hot spots where the blisters are brewing) we actually stormed the first half with relative ease & felt like we could have gone on a little longer if we’d needed to (physically wise the backpack actually feels like a day bag!) I’d like to think it’s a sign we are maybe building up some stamina but it’s probably because of the massive portions of carb-heavy food we ate at the pub last night and scrummy fresh pastries & fruit & yoghurt & cereal we had this morning. But either way, it felt better then yesterdays walk ?

The actual walk continued mostly through farmers fields today with some longer stretches of country lane walking, which is where you can speed up but also gets a little boring and the harder surface is harder going on the feet. We met a couple of couples walking the TMW (Nobos), Paul saw an owl flying between trees (maybe), Paul also got electrocuted on a farmers fence (he was ok - but a whole section of today had roped off bits of the footpaths with electric roping! They provide a plastic handle bit to hold but the first one we came across you couldn’t access the handle from our side!) and, I promise this is true, we helped another lamb! Maybe we’ll become shepherds.

Anyways, Barley Meadow touring park, just down the road from the TMW path before hitting Drewsteignton, gave us a friendly & enthusiastic welcome when we arrived at 5pm, congratulating us for making it. They also have a well stocked shop (including Creme eggs!) hot showers, an indoor space with pool table & games & laundry facilities… which we might use tomorrow as we’ve given ourselves a rest day here. Half way through the TMW, we’ll get back to the trail Tuesday, when hopefully our feet will feel better about continuing!

Happy Easter everyone!
