Summer Camp 2007 - Bassenthwaite - Prologue

Location of this year's camp
This year sees the Troop visit a brand new site in the Lake District. With stunning scenery and fantastic facillities, this promises to be one of the best Summer Camp ever!
Arrivals
The 9th Doncaster Scout Troop are due to arrive on site in the next few days, with the 'Advanced Party' arriving on Thursday and the 'Main Party' arriving on Friday.
The Advanced Party will be in charge of pitching Patrol Tents, Patrol Diners, Mess Tents, Ed's Diner and will also start preparing equipment for the wide variety of activities that are being hosted.
Once the Main Party has arrived on Friday, they will settle into their new camp setting, unpack their kit and assist with any jobs that need doing.
Schedule
Saturday will signal the first full day for everyone on camp, and the Scouts will be start a week long schedule of Activities including:
-Canoeing
-Sailing
-Archery
-Various other water-based activities
-Pioneering
-Mountain Biking
-Climbing (on our own Climbing Wall)
-Walking
-Brownsea Island Experience
-Lots of team games such as Footbal, Volleyball, challenges and inter-patrol competitions
-Day visits
All of these activities have been put into a structured timetable meaning everyone will have an oppotunity to have a go and try something new.

Wherever you are on camp you are guaranteed to get a fantastic view of surrounding mountains - in this case Skiddaw
Wooded Area
This year we even have our very own small wood, where we will be teaching a variety of trasitional scouting skills including advanced Firelighting and our own Brownsea Island Experience!

Yet another camp ends!! What memories though. Looking out of my tent first thing in a morning, the Lake, mountains, sunshine.
Well done to all the lads for your part in making it a camp to remember. A big thankyou from me to all the leaders of a great team.
Look forward to next years camp(same place I hope)
