Windsor Castle
View walking up from the train station Conference presentation was this morning ("Structure and recognition of graphs with no 6-wheel subdivision", if you're curious!) - then had some free time in the afternoon, since the conference programme only went until lunchtime today. We walked down to Earley station (Earley is a suburb in Reading, and the closest station to where we're staying) and got a train to Windsor and Eton Central... quite an expedition, since buying a ticket to a particular station does not in fact tell you how to get there... (2 changes, 2 different train companies, 3 different lines)
Anyway, it was worth the adventure: Windsor is a beautiful little town, with lots of little shops hidden down alleyways, and a huge castle in the middle. (Didn't go in - we got there pretty late and it closes at 4pm, also it's ridiculously expensive!) Eton is just a short walk over the river, and also very pretty.
