Bern--- 'tell me bout the bears'... Well Bern is a pretty cool city, or cool enough for a day trip. All I knew about Bern was that they had a 'Bear Pit' (as some of you say in the youtube clip)... Well there is so much more. Down their main street they have little fountains that just have a little stream of water coming out of it, but each one has a different them to it (be it from an ogre eating a baby, a bear with a gun, a woman with a sash on her back... there are quite a few). As well on the main drag of Bern there is an impressive clock, which I havent quite figured out yet. It has the standard clock, but as well below the clock is another massive time piece keeping track of the zodiac signs and other things--- the clock is over 800 years old and i suggest going to this link to at least read a little about it ( http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Zytglogge ). After this we made our way down to the BEARS!!.. It was in fact pretty cool to see, but I guess if you've seen one bear you seen most of em... At this point in time the group split up and some went back home while once again the troopers remained. I forget exactly what all we did (i think search for cheap dinner for awhile, but failed)... However, we finally settled on a place, and while I got a pizza, Clark got a dish called rosti (or something or other)... Imagine a bed of delicious hash browns, but thicker cut and cooked in pork fat and butter, with whatever meat you want in there and topped with an egg--- simply amazing. After this we continued on to see the sights- in particular we saw what i think was the parliament building or something like that. However, the impressive part was the view from behind, not of the building, but of looking out into the snow covered swiss alps-- finally got to see them (apparently i can see them from lausanne-- and i have, but not until 9 days here did the weather clear up that I could see them)... It was a beautiful site, and the building in the photos is actually a museum dedicate in part to Einstein (he lived in Bern at some point in time)... That was about it for Bern, enjoy the pics

side note--you will see a church with some ornate work on the outside... we tried to get in, but missed it by a few minutes
