Monday 27 April
Yesterday we woke up by early birds and the sun. Had breakfast outdoor in the garden. So, what to do on your “big day”? Why not have some fun with the video camera, which has been my companion for seven weeks now, but never been used so far. I have a variety of “missions” from children out there, and one of those is “Turning Torso”. So we packed our things and asked Gullan to direct us to this spectacular building. Took us ten minutes to get there in the Sunday empty streets of Malmö.
People were gathering around the tower with their pocket cameras, and the sun was shining. K grabbed a book and volunteered as “car protector” and I went for the door. I was lucky. Inside the building there was a 24/7 “concierge”. And after a phone call to his authoritie he gave me a key and I could take the elevator to floor 47, where there’s a lounge with a half circle view over the harbor, the sea and the bridge. It’ll be a nice ending to this feature.
Unfortunately I encountered a lot of problems with light temperatures when I was
filming. Indoor, outdoor and to that blue tinted windows… But after some struggling and retakes I think I have what I need to make a decent story for “Johans mission”, the new TV-show opening in autumn.
We had a picnic in the garden of Malmö, made some phone calls to different “värdshus” in Småland, and decided to set off for Ljunga Park Hotel in Sävsjö. Their restaurant was closed though, so we did some shopping in Lödde just outside Malmö. When we walked in to ICA Maxi in Lödde we realized that this is exactly the same place where we had stopped for lunch on our way out of Sweden! It's a small country!
When we got to Ljunga Park we picked up the keys and a welcome note at the reception, and had “the largest wooden building in Northern Europe” at our disposal. We jogged in the nearby woods before we opened a "Cremant du Jura" and had a great night at the hotel.
The birds woke us up the next morning, and now the hotel was full of people, preparing their lunch buffet, when we had our breakfast at half past ten. We said good
bye to the really nice couple who runs the hotel, packed our things and headed home.
A stop by the highway in Mjölby, and we realized that this week we have traveled from like midsummer to spring, with "vitsippor" and naked trees here in Östergötland. Strange!
Nice to be home again. And to meet Hannes, and see our home, which was in surprisingly good shape. And what a surprise over the kitchen table! Thanks everyone! Years of whining over the old kitchen lamp are over. Feels great!
So, our little adventure in Europe is over. But the memories will always stay. Thanks for joining us on the Travelblog!

K says hi to everyone!
