Linn's birthday party
This past weekend we held a house party to celebrate Linn's birthday. There were 16 people who came for dinner and 7 who stayed overnight. Friday, Linn and I prepared by cleaning, grocery shopping and cooking. She made this fabulous bread... (yes, I am planning to get the recipe).

Saturday was again spent preparing... Imagine peeling, cooking, and chopping 5 kg of potatoes?! The guests arrived between 6:00 and 7:00... luckily the rain had stopped and we were able to eat outside. We served potato salad, tossed salad, bread, cheese (Greve... my favourite!!), and a meringue cake for dessert (everyone brought their own meat). It started getting chilly at around 10:00, so we moved inside... and stayed there until 3:00am when the last of us went to bed. All I'm going to say about the evening is that Linn mixes very strong drinks... 😊

There were a wide variety of people there including some people Linn has known since she was a baby, and some friends from school in Uppsala... even some guys she'd met in Thailand came!

Sunday we got up very late (around noon) and had breakfast. Everyone from Uppsala (who had stayed the night) left

soon after... Fritjov stayed and the three of us went into Stockholm to do some shopping. It was really relaxing to just wander around, eat ice cream and look in stores with absolutely no plans.

Monday night Linn and I went to Sundbyberg - a suburb town of Stockholm - to have dinner with Anders (Linn's grandfather) and his wife Eva. They have a very nice apartment there and a plot in a community garden. Dinner was good and as always, interesting conversation... Anders remembers meeting Grandpa Morse in Stockholm when he came here after the war!

Work is going well... they've added a few more tasks to my repertoire, so I'm not only working on column coupling. Now I do the cultivation (of the bacteria), the harvesting of the protein, and the concentration analysis of the protein. I also think that my Swedish is improving. The people at work think it's fun to force me to speak Swedish (this is actually a good thing I think).

Yesterday it was rainy, so we headed to the Nobel museum after work.
Tonight we're going to a BBQ-volleyball party at a friend from works house...
