From Potes we drove up a windy and fairy steep road to the Peuto (pass) de Piedrasluengas at 1355m which gave spectacular views of the local mountains and back to the Picos de Europa. Then it was a further 300k southwards into the centre of Spain to the small city of Segovia and its excellent camper stop by the bullring, about 1k from the centre. A Danish couple who had already spent a couple of days here entertained us with coffee and brandy and gave us plenty of useful information.

Segovia is built on a ridge and is particularly well known for its magnificent granite Roman aqueduct running right into the centre which ensured a water supply for the city form the local hills. It is 800m long a maximum of 30m high and is supported by 166 arches and 120 pillars. After supper we walked into town to see the aqueduct and the city’s late gothic cathedral floodlit.
