mi casa
this is the cocina = kitchen. Ok so I know that I arrived in Valencia a week ago, but venga(come on), i have been doing a ton of things since i got here and finally feel situated in mi casa here and my español is improving immensely. A downfall to this is that sometimes now I forget the English word for things, or even worse spell them wrong...its driving me crazy!!
But ok I am going to try to cover this last week in one blog, possibly two.
Vale (ok, but a word only used in España), our bus got into Valencia at about 6 in the afternoon on Sunday. We were seperated in 2 buses, and mine was the first to unload. It was so terrifying though because i saw a ton of Spanish people standing outside of our bus, and we just had to wait for our name to be called and then go meet our Spain family. I was so scared I almost threw up, because for the past 6 days I had been with Molly, and my other friends and now I was on my own. Vale, when they called my name I got out and met my señora, Laudi, short

a view of the salon = living room. for Laudisa. The first day is now a blur, but I remember thinking that she was really ritzy and put together. She helped me get my maletas, and took me over to her car. And yes she has a car, which is rare for Spanish citizens. Not only does she have a car, but she has a benz. ¡A dios mio! I struck gold when it comes to abroad families. That first day we drove to the house, her talking the whole time and me just saying "si" or "no se". After we unloaded my bags, we went up to the 7th floor where we live and she showed me our flat. It is very nice, I will put up some photos. In Spain it is very rare to have a house, everyone lives in apartaments or flats, and ours is insanely clean and very pretty. After i put my bags in my room (which is so cute) she took me out for dinner at a place called Sofra, and we had döner kebap, which is the spanish equivalent to gyro. It was so good, but at this point i had realized that this speaking Spanish all of the time

computer room thing was a LOT harder than I anticipated. Dinner went well, and then we came home I went into my room and had a little bit of a breakdown..lol. It was bound to happen at some point, and with me being so tired from constant travelling, and all of the new things I had had enough and just wanted my daddy. 😞 but everything is amazing now, but then the language barrier was a lot to handle!
The next couple of days were spent just trying to get to know Laudi, more so try to understand atleast 1/4 of what she said to me so that I could respond with something that would possibly help her to not think i am an idiot. 😊 My friends and I walked around everywhere, to the beach (which is way close, be jealous), to all of the sites, shopping, the university, and mas. I really really love Valencia and the lifestyle here is just so much more about living and less about working which i la la love! I mean, any country that nap time is required is fine by me. The city is pretty big, and I haven't explored even half

the terrace. of it, but i look forward to it.
I started classes, and they are all good. I have a spanish literature class that is soooooooo boring, but i don't think it will be too difficult, and all of my other teachers are great.
Oh yeah, on Saturday Laudi's daughter, Laura ( what are the odds?), came and she is a stewardess on a boat, so she will be here for 15 days, and then in Malaga for like 20, and so on. At first I was so scared of her, because she is very loud, and kinda in your face, but I soon realized that this is part of their culture. Now, we get along great, and she has shown me and Molly some local places which is way fun because we need to meet locals and really get to know the city. She is 18, and a little bit crazy, but a ton of fun, and really selfless. Laudi also has a son, Carlos, who is 21 and I am pretty sure I am going to marry because I have seen pics and wow......but i have never met him because he is studying at a university en

my building! south spain to be a captain of a ship. que intenso! I know that her husband died about 8 years ago, but I don't know how or why yet....too personal.
The food here is amazing. That is all i have to say about that because if I start talking about the food i will go on forever.
Let's see.....what else happened this week.......nothing to exciting, basically just got settled in as a Valenciana, and got to know my friends and family here better. My best friend here is def Molly, tho there is a group of us guys and girls of about 10 that are pretty close. Molly and me just click, and she is def a lot of fun to be around. Unfortunately for her, her senora isn't so good. Last night, Molly ate with my fam and today she told me that she was thinking about changing families. I told this to Laudi, and she said that it is fine that she moves in here, which is great! We wanted to be roommates from the get go, but it just didn't work out that way. Where she is living now is the typical stusy abroad horror

my room, it is her sons. it is supposed to look like a ship. lol story: her senora doesn't cook her food, the house is dirty, the dog poops everywhere, and Carmen is just not too nice....so tomorrow I think we are going to talk to ISA about her moving here. That would be great!
ok now some weird things about spain, a list if you will:
* a ton of guys have mullets. yes mullets, but they like them. a lot.
* it is next to impossible to find conditioner in the stores, and I have no clue why their hair all looks normal.
* the lights in all of the room turn off after like 30 minutes in an effort to save energy, so you have to keep turning them on.
* There are like, whole dead pigs and cows, in the windows of carnecerias, as if that is appetizing... ???
que mas....
* EVERYONE smokes 😞
* i like this, but, after every meal they want you to eat a piece of fruit.
* they don't have clothes dryers. So, it is really common and not looked down on to wear the same things 2 days in a row.
* the girls dont wear much makeup, unless they
are hookers.
i can't think of anymore now, but I will start to write them down.
ok i think i have rambled enough about my life now, so i am going to stop. you guys make sure to keep in touch and let me know how things are on your half of the world! Will write again soon...ish.
love!!!
