It's been a long time coming! At last the sun has come out in Pamplona!! So, what did we do? Well, we had a very busy weekend, so here goes!
For three successive nights we went to the
Tres Sesenta (360) Music Festival which was fantastic. Ok, so we didn't see every band because we need sustenance and without a siesta we would never have made it through to 1am, let alone 2.30 when the final act finished on the Saturday night. I suspect we were in bed before they even started though!! It was quite an eye opener though and the ancient
ciudadela made a fabulous venue for such a festival. On the Friday night we even managed to blag our way up to the VIP area where food and drink were free! Our wristbands didn't get checked because security was otherwise engaged and we just went up the slope and into the beer tent. Brilliant!! Nobody questioned if we should have been up there or not so who were we to argue?!! The sound, view and atmosphere were not as good though, so we only stayed for a couple of beers. Back at ground level we loved "La Habitacion Roja", "Radiofunkens", "Reina
Republicana", "We Are Standard" and, rather surprisingly the rap/hip-hop duo of "Delafe y Las Flores Azules". Unfortunately the much talked about "The Gift" and "Delorean" failed to live up to expectations in our humble opinions!
That was our evenings but the daytimes were pretty busy too. On Friday we drove out to nearby Alzuza where we visited the
Jorge Oteiza Foundation Museum which, whilst not our cup of tea, was interesting in its own way. Sculpture doesn't really excite us but it was an intriguing building. Fortunately, and purely by chance, the museum is free on Fridays! The village, however, was stunningly beautiful. There were flowers everywhere and it was immaculately kept. For some reason the footpaths into the hills are closed which was a shame.
After a very late Friday night (had we liked Delorean it would have been even later!) we decided we needed some exercise on the Saturday. From our flat you can see the wind turbines of the El Perdon wind farm. We went to have a closer look and parked up at the
El Camino de Santiago monument. There were lots of pilgrims pausing after climbing the hill, about to descend towards their overnight stop. We
were heading higher though, as we followed the long line of wind turbines up to the summit. People seem to either love or hate these beasts, and we err on the side of loving them! They certainly make for beautiful photographs. It was a great walk and highly recommended if you need to get out of Pamplona for the day. Only close-up do you really get a feel for the size of these turbines, but you also get an idea of the noise they make and the "flicker" as you walk through their shadows. Living next door to one wouldn't be much fun, but we really do think you would have to live VERY close for it to have an impact on your life.
Saturday was a very late one, but Lori Meyers was well behind schedule and we didn't even survive to hear their first number! Sunday was glorious and we headed down the coast to the beach. You'll have to wait for the next blog to find out more!!

Hurray for the sun!
This music festival sounds fantastic. We will have to add it to our list.
