It has been an eventful few days. We have walked up substantial hills, and then back down the other side of others. It has been rainy, sunny and overall just wonderful. But there have been moments when I realized that at least I had lost the focus of why I was here. Surrounded by friends, it is also easy to forget that we are on a pilgrimage. Up until now, the notion of pilgrimage has been of a much more technical nature. Heck, I have four different kinds of socks with me after receiving four different kinds of advice - 100% wool, for dryness, 70% wool and 30% technical fibers for a mix of benefits, technical socks of nothing but odd silver-studded material for wicking, and one pair that was a gift of unknown origin. These and other questions have been at the forefront of my mind for the last week! I left you in Leon, where I was recovering from food poisoning - blah (literally). Tip from the road: When you order paella in a restaurant and they start rooting around in the freezer next to you, take that opportunity to leave! Really! I said bye to Michael (belated thanks for an awesome 400km, drink more milk, don´t do drugs and may all the pretty girls look at you the longest), met up with Jamie the crazy scotsman again - though his feet were too bad to walk far (see you in Santiago!!!) Hola Amigos Sorry - I don´t know the Spanish word for ´crikey´... but I´m almost there!! So I´ve put the brakes on and am travelling like a snail! It´s like a really good book or movie that you don´t want to end! I feel tempted to go back to the start and begin walking! The past three days have been MAGIC! I´ve been riding through the mountains for the past few days. The scenery & cycling have been pure magic. Some of the climbs have certainly been challenging - but nothing like that rock climbing I was doing on the first day!
