We got up the next morning our clothes were dry that we had hung over the heater...I went and put my soxs and boots on and they were full of ants.....I think they had come up through the floor boards to the heat and thought my boots were a good place to sleep or build a nest....It is the overflow room after all....one good thing someone else had to put up with the snoring man we didn't hear him.
We went down to the same pub and had breakfast and set of the two Thomas's were going the short way and we decided to take the longer but not so hilly way.....the book lied ….it was hilly.....it was up and down all day.....a very long day.....still took heaps of photo's and there wasn't much rain...nice change …..the tracks met up with each other and we met up with Spanish Thomas who seems to have lost German Thomas....we walked into San Mamed del Camino...It seemed like everyone was staying there....we decided to get some thing to eat and keep on walking the extra 8km....Lindsey and Jonathan from America who we had met earlier were staying there and having something to eat
and Thomas also came in....we ate and left
Not sure if it was a good idea it was getting late and we still had 8ks to go and we were already had a big day...the arrows out of town seemed to disappear....we ended up walking around town then headed out on the wrong road and had to turn back ….we probably added an extra two kms to our walk.....the first couple of kms when we finally found our way was a steep climb...we were walking in automatic mode.......
We finally made it to Sarria and had our first taste of all the new comers that start here..... We are four days from finishing our walk..up until now there have been rules for albergues re in bed by 10 and lights out, common curtsy to sleeping pilgrims. That has just all gone out of the window....A lot of people start their walk here.....walk four days and get the same recognition as us.....we have been warned about them...have been told we will feel resentment towards them but we are not suppose to.....We feel that they are in our space and on our walk....they have changed everything just by being there....coming
into Sarria we had to hunt for a albergue because there are so many extra people on the track now....
The one we have found is a private one and we have five guys in the room with us....there is a washing machine and dryer so we have made use of it....then decided to go and have tea....found a little place and I had calamari...I am assuming that is what it was ….terrible....we went back to our room and found a couple of young girls have moved in.....we were rather amused by them settling into their first night....little backpacks huge sleeping bags ...proper little toiletrie bags...magazines....Our first taste of the “wanta be pilgrims”....well that’s what I call them....
They unpacked and disappeared....we made sure that the lights were out by 10pm they came back at about 11 and had to find their way around in the dark....thats the rules
Now I haven't mentioned anything about Jacqui and her snoring...but I have to say that the red wine can make Jacqui a little loud....some nights I try to wake her or hit her if she is close....tonight I let her go....the wantabe's have to know what its all
about....The rule is that lights can be turned on by 6am...normally people move around quietly till about 6.30 -7 not this morning I had the lights on by 6am.......
…......A pilgrim does not complain.......
