On top of the wall.I slept in today, waking up around 10. After I got ready, I went to go find somewhere to eat breakfast. I walked through the wall into the city until I found a bakery named Don Leon. I found a delicious pastry that look like an elephant ear covered in chocolate, called a palmera. I took it on the go, deciding to try to find out how to walk on top of the wall. I found a map, deciphered were the stairs were, and went up them. I got to walk around the entire wall seeing the city. It was pretty awesome and reminded me of another walled city in Italy named Lucca. Inside the city there are some beautiful old roman buildings, but a lot of the buildings look old and run down. The city hasn’t done a good job with keeping up with the buildings, and there is a lot of graffiti. However, the wall is in good condition as well as the cathedral. Since the cathedral is next to part of the wall, I decided to make my way inside it. Of course it was very beautiful. I saw a couple of tour groups that spoke English, so
My lunchI stayed close to them so I could hear what the guide was saying about the cathedral. After I visited the cathedral, I roamed around the city and found the provincial museum. It was free and open, so I went inside to find beautiful artifacts and paintings dating back from before the Romans. I got to take a lot of pictures until my camera made too much noise and an employee told me I wasn’t allowed to take pictures. I think she explained that I could by pictures, but I definitely didn’t want to. Luckily, I already took pictures of the coolest things. When I was done looking around the museum, I was very hungry. Unfortunately, almost everything was closed because it was a Sunday. I went to the main plaza and found a restaurant called Café del Centro. I ordered a piece of steak with fries, potato salad, and eggs. I got to my delicious meal outside; even though it was a cloudy day, it was still nice. The entrée was 11 dollars; a little more than what I wanted to spend. I knew I wouldn’t be eating dinner because the supermarkets were closed, so I was willing to
Inside the museum.spend a little more on lunch. Especially since it was a big plate. I walked around a little bit more after my late lunch then made my way back to the hostel. I spent the rest of the afternoon/night looking at what I would be able to see the next day, and researching how I will get from Santiago to Fatima, Portugal. I also looked up times for the bus that will take me from Lugo to Santiago. I will try to purchase the ticket tomorrow. Hopefully tomorrow will be a beautiful, sunny day, with everything open!
