Today Jim went to a travel agency (where they are reported to spea k English well) and bought the train tickets for the rest of our trip. Turns out Jim's Spanish is better than the agent' English so they conducted the transaction in Spanish. The we went to tour the Royal Palace. There was a line up (about half an hour) but we really wanted to see it as last time we were in Madrid it was closed. The King and Queen don't actually live in the Royal Palace but use it for official functions etc. and so it is sometimes closed. It is a fabulous palace that is kept in fine form as it is actually used. No pictures are allowed so you will have to take my word for it. We discovered it was easy to walk home from that area so we did that.
