Night 1
Christina, Ben, Baz and CK in the clubWe spent the August Bank Holiday in Madrid with Benno as he was there with his lovely lady Christina and it was his birthday - what better reasons to head to Spain?
Highlight of the weekend was the house party we went to on Saturday night at Christina’s flatmate’s parents place. Her grand dad was the Swedish Ambassador to Spain and he built this great holiday house just outside of Madrid that has been kept in the family. It was like being in high school again, having a party at someone’s house when their parents have gone away for the weekend - nostalgia! The place came complete with a library, rumpus room filled with musical instruments (double bass, grand piano, 2 electric guitars and a drum kit!), a sauna, a pool and of course a Labrador who had just given birth to 3 of the cutest puppies in the world! They were so soft and lovely - it doesn’t matter what language you speak, everyone understands a puppy cuddle. They were the stars of the night, they couldn’t walk or see yet and if you couldn’t find someone in the party then you could bet money that they’d be having

And the BBQ they put on was awesome - the Spanish idea of a BBQ: Break twigs and branches off tree, put wood in brick pit, set on fire. Cook enough pork belly and chorizo to feed Namibia. Eat with bread. Wash down with beer and gaspacho. Unfortunately for Baz the Spanish don’t do vegetarianism. It’s mentally impossible for them to understand the concept. So the poor lad ended up eating a little bread, drinking a little gaspacho and drinking a LOT of beer….and the next day he wondered why he had bruises all over him - oh yeah, that would be from when he decided to group wrestle a 6”5 capoeira wielding Spaniard. The group lost.
