K so the last entry I fell asleep doing and cant really figure out how to continue on it haha so I will just do a new one as a continue haha. So Corpus Christi apparently was a synagogue built like 700 years ago and then during the inquisition it was converted to a church and thats how it stands today. And the story of the devil in the aqueduct is so great! Apparently there was like really pretty girl and she was a laundry lady with her mom but there are only two rivers in segovia and she lived on the hill so she had to walk to far everyday to get water everyday and one afternoon she said I would sell my soul if I woke up tomorrow and there was water flowing next to the house. Well the devil heard her and said deal! She tried to get out if it but the devil said no, and got all the other devils together to help him build it all the way from Rome. Well she prayed to san lorenzo and begged him to help her, and so he sped up time to make the night shorter, and the devil was 2 stones from finishing when day broke and his deal was voided. This is also why we have the summer solstice the shortest night of the year. I love it. Oh so El escorial was the most amazing place ever! Like it was huge and its really old but they built it in olny 21 yrs! I dont know how that would be possible today but less 300 years ago! It is so huge and like 2 floors and a basement and the basement like half of it is for the tombs and the tombs are all marble and gold and its soooo pretty. BUt very cold. Its just so amazing. We could take pics which totally sucked though. And the valley of the fallen....well its very big. But its mostly underground and there are absolutely no windows in the church part so its like super dark (as there are only candles) and its very very dark and oppresive feeling which I guess is appropriate since the evil dictator Franco commissioned it. But the outside is pretty awesome. I mean the inside is a work of art its just dark and sad. Also it has a huge giant cross near it. Like huge. On friday we went to oso blanco (among others) which was pretty cool like awesome sangria, until we were walking from the kareoke bar to a discotec (a club) and it started raining- no pouring! Then saturday (a big group but amanda and I split off) went to Madrid and we went shopping in Principe Pio mall and then walked around Madrid. The walking wasnt on purpose though. We were going to meet people at a bar that we thought was alot closer but we got to see alot of Madrid haha. In the end it was too far and we had to catch the bus back so we went to a mexican resturaunt that was really close and then caught the last bus home. The metro in Madrid is soooo great. Like it goes everywhere is super easy to ride and VERY clean. Then tues we took a mini excursion to the Cathedral de Segovia. That was frciking awesome. Like the art, archtecture, decor, everything! Except I dont know how they celebrate mass like most of the church was taken up with other stuff and there was like ten pews haha. Also everyone here is like a yankees fan. Madrid is super close and the futbol (soccer) team there is good, but barcelona is like 4 or 5 hours away and everone here is hella a barcelona fan!
