Hola amigos! Today was an exploration day as we walked to the University through the Plaza Mayor and then further afield in search of a more permanent residence. It was a lot busier today, probably as it's not a weekend. As we neared the University we started noticing lots of student looking people with folders that gave us hope we were going in the right direction, but also lots of tourists. The building we were looking for was right opposite a gorgeous Cathedral, which unfortunately I did not photograph, but I will explore this place at a later date and take plenty of photos. Walking through the streets I really love the whole style of it, the atmosphere and how different it is to England. For example, many buildings have these black doors and windows with ... read more

Hey everyone! It's Sunday morning and I arrived in Salamanca after a veeeeery long journey yesterday that involved waking up at 4:30 AM, not being able to find the bus stop at Madrid-Brajas Aeropuerto and getting lost for an hour trying to find our hostel from the bus station in Salamanca - a 10 minute walk away according to google maps - during which time the wheel on my overweight suitcase decided to stop working and it was like dragging a dead weight around. On the plus side it will go far to toning my arms up! People were very friendly and a couple of times even offered us directions without even being asked. The bus ride from Madrid to Salamanca was fine, the bus seemed really posh with its leather seats and million little knick-knacks ... read more

I spent three weeks in Salamanca in 2008 once again I arrived by myself but it didn't take long before I met a group of amazing friends from all over the world. I was staying in a University dorm, and enrolled in some Spanish courses at the Don Quijote language school. A university city with more bars per block than i have seen anywhere else! During the day students are sprawled out with books and backpacks and by night hopping from one bar to the next getting drunk off 1 Euro chupitos Our routine was to meet under the clock in the Plaza Mayor which apparently is the common place to meet in the city, and take off for dinner and drinks from there. Having travelled around Spain a lot more now, I can say that ... read more

I have officially been away from home for a months, exacly!! Which means tht this trip is over 1/2 over. Which is terrible. Though I do miss home. I really want to find a dance class because I relieze how much I miss it. I don´t miss discoteca dancing. I mean real dancing. I´m hoping to find a one or maybe more but not once a week class for salsa, and then find a salsa club! I miss being spun.... We got a new roommate today. I can´t remember her name, but she´s from Italy! So I´m pretty sure she will pick Spanish up really fast, if she doesn´t know it already. I haven´t had a chance to talk to her because she got here at 10:30 at night, and I had to pack. I ... read more

Today I woke up happy. I wasn´t the tiniest bit tired (though I did wake up at 12). The day before I had gone to bed at a reasonable hour and everything was nice. I just read and listened to music all morning until lunch time. After lunch I went to the Internet Café to do my homework. Which didn´t bring me down. Then I saw some friends of mine and talked to them for a bit. On the way home, I picked a tomatoe up for dinner. Ate dinner. and just read some more. It was one of those days that all you feel like doing is lying around, but in a very calm way. It was great.... read more

Yesterday. It was the last day for- there are two people outside at this moment (the 24th) who are in speedos, and big wigs (on red, one white). Both are middle aged men, and have pot bellies. They are having a pretend fight, just thought I´d let you know-the Americans. Sad day. It was also the last day for two of the millions of French people in my class. Pierre and Marie. Besides that, class was normal. That night, the Americans weren´t allowed to go out, so we all hung out in there room. Until Filo got really mad because they needed to sleep. They didn´t even want to sleep yet though. About 5 minutes after graving my arm and steering me into my room (Even though she didn´t even give me a second to ... read more

Well. I´m trying to remember what I did that day. Homework in the morning. As usual. School. As usual. It was the American´s last night they were allowed outside, so we all went to the discoteca. Not much to report that day. The weekend activities through the school are going to Madrid to a theme park for 65€. no Thanks. and going to some other city for 60€. No thanks. For the weekend, all that anyone is doing is going to the pool. I don´t even like the pool that much, or at least for that long. So today (the 24th). I´m going to research things to do next weekend. or during the day during the week. Because I really don´t like the pool. And I´ve already gone today, and don´t know what to do ... read more

The Americans leave in 2 day!! I guess I´ll have to start planning ahead with friends from school. I´m always so terrible at that. I´m going to give a breif overview of my day, because it was pretty basic. 10:30, breakfast. 11:30, left for Colegio to do my APUSH homework on the computers. 1:00 Home to get ready for class. 2:30 Lunch. 3:30 Siesta (naptime). 4:00 Grammer. 6:00 Conversation. We had a sub for conversation (Ana!) who was nice, but talked a lot faster. Cristina talked very loud, slow, and articulated everyone carefully. Ana was more similar to this Anna. Faster, which equals less articulated. She looked younger then Cristina and the other teachers, which means one of two things. Either she will be a stickler for rules because she is new and doesn´t want ... read more

We learned about Christopher Columbus today in Conversation Class. I am sick of that man. I also started my AP US History homework today. Guess who it was on? Every year I have to learn the same things about him over and over again. 7th grade, World History. 8th grade, US history. 9th grade, US Government. 10th grade, AP World history. 11th, AP US History. I went to the discoteca that night, and Lisa (my roommate) came with me (along with the Americans). She has been sick for a while, and she thinks she´s getting over it. The problem is I think i´m coming down with what she had (a nasty cough and runny nose). Tomorrow night I think i´m going to stay home. I´m trying to make this short so I can get to ... read more

Lunes. School today. Since it´s a new week, new people come. Either they are completely new, or they moved up a level. We had two new kids in our class, and a new teacher for Grammer. The two new kids are Alexis and Roman (both boys from France). Besides the two Singapore girls (that are also American), everybody is now French. The two boys are a little wierd, one is quite. The other, Roman, is trying to subtly be funny, but is getting on even the new teachers nerves. All done so with a smirk on his face. The new teacher, Sonia, is really nice. I like her a lot more then the old one, she just taught and that was it. Sonia teaches, but also makes conversation at the same time. Inbetween activities sometimes ... read more
