Ice cream
at Placa de Espanya Back to reality (for a short while).... sitting in a cold Amsterdam while yesterday at this time I was having lunch in a 35 degrees hot Seville !!!
The last week was spent in Seville and Tarifa in the sun, sun, sun. Julie and I were heading down to attend Lorries birthday party (who used to live in Amsterdam but has now moved down to Madrid) which she had organised with her friend Rick, who also was going to celebrate his 40th. Little did we know that the planned Saturday party would turn out to be a week of great parties and meeting lots of interesting people from all over the world. Their friends and family were flying in from literally everywhere to attend !!
Tuesday we were a small group that took the ferry over to Tanger, Morocco. I was pleasantly surprised by the city, probably due to the fact that we had a great guide that took us around in a van so we could see a bit outside of town as well. The afternoon was spent in the shops were just about everyone found something to buy (some better than others in bargaining). Waiting for departure
in the evening we got to see some young guys trying to enter the catamaran (via the water) or hiding in trucks, assumingly to get to Europe without having a passport. I don't think many of them made it (security guys were probably eating, as the sun had just set and it was Ramadan, but the truck drivers were keeping an eye on them)... Strange to watch it all from the dock.
On Thursday we got to see some spectacular lightning as the party was in a bar at the beach overlooking a storm moving in. Friday dinner and a club, and Saturday was the big event in the villa. What was a group of around 20 in the beginning of the week turned out to be more than 70 people for the weekend. Didn't really remember all the names by the end of it......
Sunday it was time to head back to Seville, where we could catch up with Julie's friend Nina before taking the flight back on Monday to Amsterdam. I'll be here until October 8 when my flight to Montreal (via Paris) takes off. Might see some of you on the wig party, October 6
First dinner,
while the group was still small... !!!
Hasta luego !
