Cordoba:
We visited the great mosque (in Spanish called Mezquita). it was built in 712AD ( yes 712AD). It’s the biggest mosque in the world since and still is. The brochure says it has 1000 colossal pillars and I would have believed if it says 10000.
Unfortunately the Christians Catholics have destroyed the original artworks to transform it into a Cathedral.
I’m not sure they succeeded.
The Jewish quarter has been well preserved offering a lot of restaurants and small hotels. We enjoyed a good afternoon going up and down the narrow streets of the Kasbah.
We stopped at what we mistakenly thought to be a café, but it was a bar specialising in a sort of special wine. We moved instead to chocolatier and enjoyed a nice gateau.
