Well the blinds in our room must be effective because we had a wonderful sleep in without even realizing it. Once finally up, we headed out for a relaxing and housekeeping day. First off to the bus station to book our tickets to Novi Sad for tomorrow. Thats a medium sized city a coupe of hours from Belgrade. Jelena, who I met in Africa, lives there and we're going for a visit for the day.

Well who knew there were two bus stations right next to each other. Not quite sure what the difference is, but after asking two ladies in ticket windows, one finally said go 200 meters that way! so we did. And found the ticket window. After writing down the date and destination, we managed to get two tickets at 915 tomorrow morning. The tickets are printed in cyrillic so we don't know which company, or even if the tickets are for the right city. hahaha we'll find out tomorrow morning 915 i suppose!

so once we had those tickets in hand, we went off to book our train tickets for wednesday. we want to take this supposedly beautifully scenic train ride from Belgrade down to Bar on the Montenegro coast. we found the train on the schedule, walked in to the right wicket and presto bango she gives us teh tickets and reservations.... it seemed a little too easy, so i'm sure the train won't be there, or will go the wrong way or something. but we'll see. pretty cheap travel too, i think the train tickets were about 50 bucks each, not too bad for a ten hour ride. apparantly the trains are not exactly the most comfortable, but hey, we want scenery.

then we headed out for a walk around town. found some buildilngs still not repaired from bombings after the war. otherwise no real plans for teh day. then we walked around the rivershore, across one bridge to the "new belgrade"" which was pretty boring so we just walked back over on the otehr bridge. but nice people watching, lots of activity around.

as for food today. for breakfast went to a pastry shop and we ended up with these hot, greasy pastries stuffed with potatoes. a bit heavy for breakfast but thats it. then for lunch we just kind of had a few random things from a grocery store. i had a yogurt drink, which was pretty nasty. then supper. mmmmmmm we had a "mixed grill"each which had two different sausages, two different porks, and a chicken skewer, with taters and bread. yummy. and only 15 bucks each including some beer and coke.

now we're just relaxing at the hostel this evening, watching cnn to get the latest on the big blizzard in london (15 cm snow! oh no!)...

glad to see lots of people are reading. keep it up! one more day in belgrade, then off to montenegro on wednesday.
