Arrival In St Petersburg

So finally set off yesterday, arrived at the airport at around 5pm, Rosie's brother Duncan kindly bumped us up into the BA Lounge which was a right treat, free bevvy and food, although we got some snidey looks off the suits after rocking in with our boots and scabby clothes 😊

Got into London, absolutely rocked the tube to terminal 5, then got a taxi to our travel lodge where we decided to call it a night early as we were up the next morning at 6.30.

Got to the airport early doors, lo and behold, first disaster, left my iphone charger at the hotel didnt I? We do have a spare but it means alot of sharing but bothered, it wont get me down.

Flight to St. Petersburg was glorious, clear skys all the way, and the legend that is Rosie's brother bumped us up a class again, so although we didnt actually move seats, the air hostess did bring us a half pint of champagne each after our breakfast which was absolutely ideal.

Landed a couple of hours ago, safely navigated a bendy bus from the airport to the metro station, then nailed the underground as well. The hostel was around a 10 minute walk from the station and managed to find it without any bother. Currently sitting with Rosie and Craig with a beer and a bag of nuts, chatting away to an Aussie lad who is basically doing our trip backward from us, so overall a great start.

Pleasantly surprised by the amount of English the Russians are speaking and that most of the signs have English subtitles, which helped no end on the subway. Weather is around the 2 degrees mark, and there was a spattering of snow earlier. Think we will maybe just have a planning night with a few beers then hit the town tomorrow to see the sights.

P.s absolutely ecstatic that the hostel has a guitar 😊
