It started to snow as Carly's plane arrived from Texas. on December 19th. It was a special day for all of us as we were so excited to see our daughter and 30 years before Brad and I were married in San Diego. We celebrated this anniversary with family in Moscow. We have had some fun adventures that's for sure! WE missed our son Tyler who is still teaching in Taipei.

Carly was a trooper as we saw almost everything possible during her three week vacation. WE toured the sights here in Moscow, walked through Red Square at night, visited churches and museums, ate wonderful meals, walked Riley the dog in snowy parks and of course cooked our favorite dinners. WE had a quiet Christmas with family and friends and then we flew off to St. Petersburg where it was cold and frosty. WE saw gorgeous palaces and more museums all under the direction of our tour guide Valentina.

Back to Moscow for the largest New Year's Eve Party in the world. We were out walking the streets of Moscow but couldn't get near Red Square and the Kremlin due to road blocks. We hurried back to witness the

party on TV and see the fireworks from our living room window. It was a memorable three weeks and we miss Carly already (It has only been one day). Looking forward to doing it all again when Tyler arrives.

We hope to publish this blog once a week, ha ha!

Happy Holidays and Happy Anniversary
It was great to hear from you guys. I have to admit that I am jealous of your adventures. Although challenging at times, I am sure you will have many experiences that you will never forget. It must be a major change learning that you cannot drive anywhere you want at a moment's notice. All is well for the McCarter's back home. I am working on getting Ronny McElhany to join me for a trip to see you guys in Moscow. He is up for it! I will keep you posted.

From Kauai
Betsy and Brad - It's so amazing to see your snowy scenery from our tropical island. What a great adventure. We received a card from our friends the Katyryniukks (Cathy was a high school classmate of Rick's on Oahu) and it looks like they are in Moscow, too. Do you know them? They have bounced from China to Egypt and now to Moscow. All is well here. Both girls were here for the holidays. A highlight was our family Christmas gift. Rick chartered a helicopter and we all spent a day on the privately owned island of Niihau - it was pristine and magical. Much love, Joan

Happy New Year!
This has been so fun to see your great photos and hear about such an exciting new life for you both! I would never be able to come in the winter due to "hat hair"... but what a nice break from the oppressive summers in Houston. Get the vodka and the guest room ready!!! Linda

Hi Brad and Betsey! Thanks for the indepth account of your days in Moscow. It's great to go to Moscow through you! It would be more fun to actually go, but I don't see that in the cards. You guys sound happy in your new surroundings. I'm not surprised! I bet you will be happy to see true spring!! We will too! Take care you guys are in our thoughts! Love Gaye :o)
