Porto - Lisbon

We,re leaving for Lisbon on the 2:15 train so we.ve been wandering the city for the morning. I love Portugal.it,s so beautiful. We at down by the river again on the city side of the Duormo where we ate last night. I had arroz con mariscos. Rice and shellfish in a casserole. That one dish was enough to feed 3 people easy!! That,s what we,ve been doing, eating a light breakfast at the hostel/hotel as most of them give you breakfast with the room maybe some pastry of fruit during the day and then the big meal at night since most restaurants in Spain and Portugal don,t even open until 7:30 or 6. We went to the cathedral this morning...what a climb. I'm definately getting into shape!!
I am so amazed at how many things the Europeans do so much better than us. Like public transportation....you can get anywhere even in a big city like this easily...Porto has a tram, a metro, all sorts of buses and even a historical railway. A tourist card only cost 3 euros for a day. Lots and lots of cars though too...didn't expect that. All much smaller than ours...anyone driving an SUV sized car gets rude gestures and jeering.
And the coffee.oh, the coffee. Each cup made individually when you order it...so good. Why can,t we do that?
Everyone here is getting wild and crazy about the world cup.since we're in Portugal now the portugese flags are hanging everywhere. Off office buildings, shops, cars etc. Makes the hoopla abour the superbowl seem so puny in comparison.
We plan on spending 2 more days in Lisbon and then back to Spain.seeya
