The last blog showed a few of the activities we did for enjoyment during the last 2 weeks of March since returning from the US. s v Tsamaya

Like so many others we love to travel and we love to sail so cruising makes a lot of sense. Janice has retired from Cornell as a business manager and Bob has retired from South Seneca school district as the high school principal. It's time to sell the house, get rid of whatever doesn't fit on our 40 foot Caliber LRC named Tsamaya (this means Travel Well in Setswana) and set off to see the world. Even With Safety Mask

Can you imagine what Bob would look like without the safety gear? A hot shower was very welcomed every night!

Can You Read It Now?

We had our name and hailing port put on again in bigger letters this time – also put on a vinyl boot stripe as the paint put on in Trinidad did not hold up well.

A Beautiful Morning

We rose to a beautiful sunrise the morning Tsamaya was to be launched – we took it as a good omen.

Launch Day - April 17th

Tsamaya back in her element as she got launched after being on the hard for 2 weeks.

Bottle Brush Tree

The bottle brush plant is in full bloom now adding lots of color to the scenery.

Can You Identify?

So entomologist – can you identify this beetle for me? When it flies it reminded us of “june bugs” but this is what they look like when at rest.

The Tourists Are Back!

April seemed to mark the start of the tourist season in Lagos as seen by the changes we see in town – here are numerous street vendors that were not here earlier this year.

Music in the Streets

The buskers are back in town with the tourists here now –we stopped to listen as this turned out to be a great group of musicians.

Planting Time

You can tell planting season is here as there was a crowd around this vendor selling seedlings at the farmer’s market.

Portimao

A view looking at the river that goes to Portimao, a town not far from Lagos.

Amazing What 15 More Feet Give You

Thank goodness for a telephoto lens – a 65’ sailboat is definitely much bigger than Tsamaya! Note, Bob isn’t even at the stern of the boat in this photo.

Storks Here Too

The chimney’s in Portimao are covered with storks as well – this one was protecting a little one in the nest.
