Monday morning would be a full day of sightseeing in and around Krakow, including Wawel Castle and the Old Town. Unlike other Polish cities, Krakow's buildings and monuments were not destroyed during World War II. UNESCO World Heritage site inscribed in 1978. "St. Mary's is a Gothic brick basilica without transepts, and with a long choir. Founded in 1226, rebuilt in the 14th cent., and provided with a series of chapels in the 15th and 16th cent., it was restored in 1889-93 and richly painted from designs by Matejko. Thank you for your comment! Krakow is beautiful and it is original, not destroyed during World War II. I'll be continuing to describe our discoveries at other Polish Cities. Gdansk was a great surprise.
