So a fair bit has happened in the last few days since I put up a blog. After Saturdays less than optimal soccer we planned to go out for dinner with scotty as it was his last night on Sunday. We went to the local brewery where we had an amazing buffet dinner, it cost a bit but the salad bar was great and they brought out giant skewers of meat regularly throughout the night until you asked them to stop, and then there was the dessert. Combined with the beer tasting menu I think I was in heaven for the 4 hours we were there. Stuffed after dinner we went for a drink at “The blue hand” the oldest pub in Nigmegen for a beer and then it was off to the foyer again for a few

Bloody good profiterole more. Once we had helped cleanup it was off to another bar for the Dutch Sunday session. Just imagine a packed bar with only Dutch music and a lot of smoke, despite not knowing the language let alone the lyrics we were singing along in no time.
Monday was a little quieter as scotty left and we tried to get a bit of sleep before our big day at the theme park on Tuesday. Efteling is pretty much a dutch version of Disneyland, with a fairytale twist. With loads of good rides and some really funny characters it was a great day. If you ever go, make sure you get on the Flying Dutchman ride and the pitch black rollercoaster that after a couple of back to back rides can leave you feeling a bit sick. After the theme park we had dinner in Den Bosch and headed home for a well earned sleep.
Wednesday we had another relatively quiet day, Dell came out to fix the busted screen of my laptop and Melissa had to work, after work we went out for a few drinks and got home at a relatively civil 2 am.
On Thursday we

The girls heading in went back to Den Bosch to see the city properly, It’s a really cool old town and after a quick chat to her mum Melissa proved to be a great tour guide. We had a look around the main church in town and had Dutch deep fried fish snacks before boarding a 50min boat cruise on the canals that run underneath the city. For 5 euro it’s the best value tour I’ve ever done, they took us through these tiny canals that snake their way beneath the city sometimes in complete darkness. We had to rush dinner a bit once we got home and I planned on chilling out but found out to make a reservation for the train I had to go to Arnhem and I had to do it the day before I wanted to catch the train. So I made a lightening trip to Arnhem and back and only missed the first half of the soccer. Once Melissa was done and Spain had beaten Russia we went for a couple of drinks and ended up back at the Billabong for a Dutch progressive house party, it took a while to get into but it was pretty fun
in the end.
On Friday we got up a bit late and went for a look at Gill’s Portuguese store, it was really cool and he showed me this thing called a street surfer which was awesome check it out www.streetsurfers.com Then Melissa cooked a really nice Dutch dinner, mashed potato with bacon, endive, mayo and vinegar. Then it was off to the station for the train to Poland.
