Well this is it people the last blog from an awesome trip to europe. Even though I'm home already I figured I should still finish it, mainly because the last week in holland was awesome fun (as usual.) After the marathon train ride back to Nijmegen Melissa cooked up a feed while we got out stuff organised, then we went out for drinks with two of Melissa's mates Hans and Maria. Everyone was pretty knackered so after a kebab on the way home we hit the sack ready for an early morning train to Harderwijk where Melissa's parents have a holiday house. So regulation we were late to leave and didn't get to Harderwijk till a bit late but we went into town to try the local specialties of smoked eel and raw herring with raw ... read more

The Tromso Trip was amazing, It started early Wednesday morning after a 1.5 hr sleep after a massive night at boogies. The adventure began with a 3 hour train trip to Brussels, we had 3 different trains to catch and the second one was delayed by 30 min so we missed our connection and by the time we got to the airport the check in was closed. We raced to the service desk and they gave us temp boarding passes but were definitely not confident of us making the flight. We bolted to security with our luggage we were meant to check in. So we lost a bunch of stuff at security including my leatherman. But after another massive sprint to what felt like the furthest gate possible we made it and the flight had been ... read more

The Vierdaagse festival is a week and a bit long street party in Nijmegen, in celebration of the 4 day walking event held at the same time. All throughout town there are about 20-25 stages set up where they play all sorts of music from midday till midnight. After 12 everyone heads to the bars and the party generally kicks on till at least 5am. Reece and I were there from the Saturday night (first night) until Wednesday, Steve also met us in Nijmegen on Monday, right in time for Melissa’s birthday. The 4 nights partying were a lot of fun, although we were usually up a bit late to experience the best of the afternoon music we tried to get into town for the last act or two in the evenings. We went to a ... read more

So we're back in Holland after a fairly mental week. Friday we said goodbye to Matt, Jake and Alana and travelled to Renate's party in Utrecht, we arrived at 2am and didn’t get to bed till about 730am. After catching the train back to Nijmegen on Saturday Melissa had to work, so Reece and I went to see "In Brugges" which turned out to be really good. Then we went for a drink on the terrace and went into "the foyer" the special beer pub where Melissa sometimes works. The bartender Gil introduced us to a few of his friends and after a couple more drinks we were off the Billabong (Aussie pub) for another good night, they even played Aussie music this time. Sunday we went into Amsterdam to meet Emile (one of Melissa’s really ... read more

So last Friday night I got on a train to Poland, sharing a cabin with two stoned yanks 2 fat polish ladies and one massively fat and very loud polish bloke. Arriving in Poznan on Saturday morning I droped my stuff off at the hostel and went to the kayaking centre, which turned out to be a bit further than expected. The weather turned pretty average just as I arrived and I spent a couple of hours freezing my balls off before baker came and kindly lent me his AIS jacket, which also turned out to be a free ticket in to the athletes area. I was now an official kayaking groupie. The racing in Poznan went well, and Sunday night after the racing was over turned out to be a lot of fun. After a ... read more

Euro 2008 When I left you last I was on my way to Vienna. The train ride proved to be long, and towards the end full of loud drunk Germans on their way to the game. Once in Vienna I met up with Tom and Caitlin and we made our way to the fan fest, an area in the centre of the city that was blocked off and held 80,000 fans. At the fan fest we met up with Jurgen and Johanna another couple of friends from Vermont. The Austria-Germany game was fun and could only have been better if Austria had won. After the game we went out to a small pub and drowned our sorrows with some Vermont tales. The next day Tom and I went down to the fan fest to see all ... read more

For people with a life Landed in Frankfurt, watched the kayaking in Duisburg, went to Holland, they won the soccer, stayed out seriously late celebrating the win, woke up equally late, did very little all day, ate my cow for dinner (was really nice), went out for a quiet drink (got home at 430), fixed a bike, went back to Duisburg, watched more kayaking, had free dinner with the AUS team, had a proper quiet drink with the kayak team, caught stupidly long and early train to Vienna. For those with time to kill So here it is the second installment of my (hopefully) increasingly exciting travel blog. After landing in Frankfurt I made my way to the Kayaking world cup in Duisburg to watch Reece. Once the racing was done for the day it was ... read more

Well welcome to my trip, here I am sitting in Singapore airport at the start of a 7 week jaunt in europe. So this is for everyone who was wondering what I do when im not at home as well as anyone else who might just be really bored and has nothing better to do. This first blog is a bit pathetic as i only left home 8 hours ago but im pretty bored and there is free wireless in singapore airport so i set this up and spamed you all with what will hopefully be the first of many annoying emails. On the plane i had a good 3 seats to my self, however the inflight ... read more
