a wee time between blogs there folks - a man hasta take a break sometimes and when you are staying with people, there is often not really the time to do it as you are otherwise engaged living the local life.
Quickly to recap - back to Strasbourg. After the train delay got away on the same train at 2.45 or so, just 24 hrs late. Which did give me the opportunity to get down to the Cathedral properly and see the interior of the Musee whatever - very similar to the Musee du Moyen Age in Paris and really covering the same sort of things as that in Colmar, I had at least I had a little more time to see things. Anyway I decided that I was gunna manage a lunch at Assiette du Vin, which I did, before the train. I would have been happy to just have the herring sort of entree. Sorry my memory is foggy about it. The effective steak and frites which followed was course 2 of the dejeuner affaires - business lunch - which was only 14E (20$) with a glass of burgundy. I did not really need/want the chips however in
the middle of the day. Hopped on the tram to the station - had to buy another ticket as somehow managed to lose the seat booking/ticket from yesterday which was 35E annoying - and wondered how unreserved seats would go, due to the lack of train yesterday bit it all worked out OK.
I arrived in Luxembourg and was met by old workmate at DoH Andrew at the station - Maurizio was working "late shift" at the bank so we met him later. Then we all went to look at an apartment they were interested in potentially buying for ultimate investment purposes to renovate/rent out if they go back to Sydney. It was interesting to see another side of the property market in another city othern than property obsessed Sydney. This was a small "roof" apartment on the 4th floor or so - they do not really go any higher here in Luxe. The major attraction was that it had a large balcony on either side - one east facing, the other west facing. In a dull winter place like this that could be a big plus I think - given that the weather has now gone to cabbage

supposedly 1740 or something - I would ? the historical accuracy of that, unless it was from Dutch and is 12 deg. after such sun a week ago. Anyway the list price was 300K Euro and we put in a lower offer (as you do) and agreed to meet the agent the next morning there, as there were others to see it after us.
I will spare you all the drama that followed but broadly it was already effectively sold to some other buyers when we got there on Sat. morning. The boys were less than happy with this and the agent in particular naturally - but I will not occupy this blog with that! On the Friday night we had dinner at a soup restaurant in town which was quite nice. After the "excitement" and turmoil of the non-property deal Andrew showed me around Sat. pm some of the inner city sights like the Grand Market and the Palace etc and below the walls. I went for a long walk before dinner - and you will some "country" shots as a result. I had bought a very nice relatively expensive bottle of French bourgogne ? pinot noir and we licked our wounds so to speak over some veal Maurizio cooked at home.
We had met
forbidden lovers (?!)
this (PG rated) painting is from 1460 - kinda Hieronymus Boschy? Maurizio's sister Patrizia in town on Sat. and on Sunday (as it was her birthday) we made the trek on the bus out to their Mum's place which is right outside the city - and almost into Belgium. So we had the big Italian mama Sunday lunch. Baked pasta - and when I thought that was it, then a small plate of cooked veal. Then a special cake for Patrizia which was pretty special - like the deluxe model from Sulfaro's in Haberfield. Maurizio fell asleep on the couch (as per usual?) and we left him and headed home on the bus with Patrizia's little dog called Nougat - who has very good balance on the bus!

Luxes and more.
Hi Mike, Very interesting to hear of the real estate over there, even though sad to hear the lads got the short end! Mama's lunch sounded a beauty, then veal as well! Mini chateue with Merc out front said a lot, looked great. Love Huddo.
