In the mountains by Lake Como

On another fine day we took the bus into the mountains behind Menaggio to Bregalia. From there we did a 2 ½ hour walk to the Refugio Menaggio situated at 1400m below Monte Grona. The ascent was steep and rocky and Wendy found it quite hard so we didn’t continue to the summit.

When we got back down to Bregalia we found that the bus we needed didn’t run on a Saturday, but fortunately a local who had just finished some work on a house kindly gave us a lift back down to Managgio.
