So I guess I haven’t written in a while so here is my update from the past two weekends!
Last Thursday, the 24th, everyone went out to celebrate the weekend I guess haha. It was really random there was this Italian band playing at this bar down the hill from the hostel and they were doing covers of beatle songs, it was a really yee haw time! The drink in Italy are unreal and I couldn’t even have an entire drink! The drink are 5 euro and they just free pour the alchohol it is insane!!! There was probabley three shots in the one drink I bought! I don’t think everyone was as cautious as I was though. Haha it was a gong show to say the least and innocent me was completely sober :D!!
So the next day was the Art History field trip to Perugia and Assisi, it was actually really cool, we went to a couple churches and similar such things, cool to see not really that cool for me to tell you about it though especially because I have pictures of none of it as that is not allowed! Anyways that was neat and the
field trip ended in Perugia where Ryan and I and four other girls stayed! The town is really neat, very similar to Cortona, with Perugia on top of a hill with the surrounding towns at the bottom of the hill. So we ended up staying at this girl Laura’s boyfriend’s hostel off in the country a little, away from the city, it was really neat but super sketchy at night cause we had never been there before. We had to take the bus out of the city and then walk down this really dark really creepy gravel road at like 8 o clock so it was really dark out haha it was straight out of a horror movie! Then we got to the house and their goose(the crazy goose!) was hissing at us, hahaha it was sooo scary to hear when we were already like ahhh this is creepy! Haha but it was sweet, it was a little farm house with a kitchen and bathroom and the works. The next morning we got to see how cool it really was! Oh my gosh it was so pretty, it was in the middle of this valley type deal (i’ll show ya pictures!) It was just really cool, and they had ponies and bunnies and kitties and baby goats( that I didn’t see but I saw the momma goat) haha it was just really neat! The rest of the day we just explored the city and went out that night. It was a good time :D!
So then this weekend, most of the people in the program went to Venice for Carnevale which is like mardi gras but Italian! Haha! I guess its purpose is to get ur fill of all the things you’re gunna give up for lent, or not.. haha! Anyways! Venice is nuts, so soooo cool! It was so strange and cool and bizarre! We got there around 12 on Thursday night and it was so foggy and we needed to find our apartment so we caught a water bus!! It like a normal bus, but its a boat! It was so weird, but all around us was so foggy, it was just soo erie, and people would get on the bus wearing crazy masks and costumes and everything! It was especially creepy when we were waiting for the rest of our group to meet up with us, cause we had no idea where to go, and people in capes and masks would just emerge from the mist! It was cool though. Then on Saturday we went and explored the place. We checked out a couple of the 100’s of masks stands where they sell the most insane masks ever, I bought one and I wanted to buy so many more but I think i’m going to have trouble getting that one home without wrecking it! They ranged from about 10 euro up to like 120, and the costumes some people were wearing were amazzzzing! I tried to get as many pictures as I could but it was just so random and cool! OH! So we went to San Marco’s square which I guess is the well known square for its pigeons and OH MY GOD it was sick! You literally had to wade through them, eeeeeeeew. Haha I was telling everyone, I can be open minded about so many things but I will never never be ok with nasty nasty pigeons, and the grossest thing was that tourist were buying bird seed from vendors and letting the pigeons eat out of their hands and land on them! Aaaah it was sooo gross!!! I think I have pictures i’ll have to post them. So for the rest of the day we just walked around and checked out some of the shops and the sights to see. That night we went back to San Marco’s and met up with a bunch of people and just hung around. On Saturday we split into smaller groups so that it would be easier to get around and we went to the gugenhiem museum and walked around. OH going back! On Friday we took a gondola ride, haha it was so cliché and cool except the guy didn’t sing to us ! But it was still really neat to do something like that! Anyways so on Saturday, we found this random candy stand that had all these candy and candies nuts, it was really random and tasty! Anyways I was taking pictures of the stand and the guy was like oh (insert Italian I don’t understand here) and motioning for me to come over, so I was like oh ok, and I went behind their little stand and ryan took a picture of me and them it was so random. And they definetley got a little too close for comfort and the older guy like made out with my face before I left haha! It was too funny to be creepy though, and they didn’t steal my money and they gave angela free nuts so I guess nothing bad happened!! That night we went out again and just walked around some more and then came home and crashed after walking all day! All and all it was a random really cool weekend, and no one stole my stuff and it worked out good haha! I have more stories to tell but I can’t go on all day so ask me and I will tell you more :D hehe I miss everyone , and please don’t be mad if I don’t write u back right away because the internet is really screwy and I’m gone on the weekends! Love you all :D
p.s. Yesterday when I got home I hopped out of the train and the momentum of my gigantic bag made me roll may ankle really bad and fall on my back and cause lots of people to laugh at me, and now I have a crappy limp 😞
