Two days is the bare minimum you'll need to explore Venice and get the flavor of the city. If you are like mom and me you'll spend early mornings wandering in St. Mark's Square, past the Bridge of Sighs and over to the Rialto Bridge when no one is around. From 7 am - 9 am there was no one around and we got some amazing pictures.

Spend time wandering off the beaten path to find little bridges and wonderful buildings. Buy Murano glass pieces and browse the shops to see amazing masks and costumes.

We stayed at a great apartment between St. Mark's and the Rialto bridge (I'll share the info with friends of course). It was expensive, 190 euros per night, but worth the expense to be close when we had so little time in the city.

Take one of the vaperetto (water bus) over to Murano or Burano to see the other islands. It's well worth the trip.

Morning shot - if you've been here you know it's always packed in front of the bridge!
