You might think it would be higher up on the list but I have a prejudice aversion to “classical Europe”. What so good about old buildings, Cathedrals and cities? This week we did the “classical Europe” thing and you know what? It’s not bad :) For example, I used to think that Pisa was just about this leaning Tower thing. I could not for-the-life-of-me understand why one would bother to go there just to see that tourist trap. Geo: 45.6663, 12.2421We headed to Treviso today – described as a miniature Venice, as there are numerous canals and branches of the river Sile running through the town. It was a nice town to walk around, but I am very glad that we decided to base ourselves at Asolo, rather than Treviso (which was our original plan) as it is very much a city, and the kids are loving the freedom of being in a very small town. We stopped at the Duomo, which had a number of "important" paintings (though nothing that really took my fancy) and wandered the many pedestrianized areas of the town, looking at the architecture and the shops. hey, cant take long but i just wanted to let you all know that i am well and very looking forward to getting back to cork. we are stuck in italy for the night since our flight out this morning was cancelled due to the iceland ash. so after lots of freak out hours and a 3 hours train ride, we are booked on the next flight out of italy tomorrow night. please keep me, kasey and other travelers in your prayers!!! ok i have to go- i love you all. ill write soon of my travels when i am finally back in cork :)... read more
