Leaning Tower of Pisa We left our campsite in Venice at 9:30 this morning. Today we had a new driver - George. We were all very upset to be losing Krzysztof, who said he was being sent back to London since he was in trouble and George would be with us for the rest of the tour. Today I sat with Rosi. It wasn't going to be a very long driving day today, but we did make a few stops along the way. While we were driving down the highway we were nearly killed by a swerving semi in the other lane. They came so close to hitting us I actually cringed. Turns out the driver was texting. Not okay!
After two hours we stopped at services, and another couple hours after that arrived in Pisa. I couldn't wait to finally see the Leaning Tower! The Tower began to tilt during construction, and now sits at about a 4 degree tilt. Pisa isn't a very big town, but it was filled with tourists, just like all the other cities in Italy. We spent about an hour at the Tower, taking silly photos, like ones of us trying to hold it up. There were several

Christine, Debs, Verity, Colleen, me, Emma, and Rosi people on tour who got quite creative with their photos haha. After our photo taking we did a bit of shopping at the stalls by the Tower. Everywhere in Italy there are guys selling fake designer bags, and if you show any interest in them they won't leave you alone. Also, it is illegal to sell those on the streets, so you have to be careful if you want to buy one. I was interested in buying one, but I never got a chance since we had such a short amount of time in Pisa. Instead, I just bought a postcard 😊
After another hour of driving we arrived in Florence! Once again we were staying in a kind of campsite, but the cabins here were much nicer than the ones in Nice and Venice. They were bigger, more modern, and had a mini fridge. I was staying in cabin 202 with Teresa, Daisy, and Tracey (from New Zealand). I wasn't with my normal roommates, but it was nice to spend some time with a few people I hadn't got the chance to talk to a lot yet.
Dinner tonight was at 6:30, and then the majority of

Shopping in Pisa the tour left for an evening at the Red Garter. This is a club famous in the Contiki world as being a really great time. Me (on my drugs) still couldn't have alcohol, so I stayed behind with Karly and Sharna. We stayed up for a few hours talking and this was when I became quite good friends with the two of them. They were both really chill, down-to-earth, and easy to talk to. We had a really great time and I was in bed by 11 pm. Wish I could have gone to the Red Garter, but I'll save that for next time!
What did I learn today? Maybe texting and driving isn't such a good idea after all...
