Ponte Vecchio by Night
Here is the famous "Old Bridge", the only bridge not destroyed by the fleeing Nazis in WWII. There has been a distinct lack of entries recently on my behalf. I shall blame the holidays and my increasing workload, rather than laziness and ineptitude.
So, in order to appease you all (is it appropriate to use the word "all" when the number you are referring to is between 0 and 1?), here are some pictures accompanied by words that are meant to entertain and elucidate, but bah I can't even be bothered to finish that sentence. Getting on with it.
Florence on New Year's was quite spectacular, despite the rain (or
pioggia as they say in Italian), with some great fireworks and a lovely concert (or
concerto, as the say more understandably in Italian), followed up by some tasty pizza (or
pizza, as they say in this is getting ridiculous). Here are just a few photos from a fun night (missing: photo of heartfelt hug from drunken hobo after midnight. Seriously.) Florence is considered one of the world's most beautiful cities, and hopefully I will have more and better photos to come in the next couple of months. Please be patient, as I can imagine you are all ( ), breathlessly sitting at your computers hitting the refresh
Piazza della Signoria
Green-lighted statues from New Year's Eve. button every thirty seconds or so.
Moving on to the "fun with mistranslation by small furry Canadian idiot" section, we present our favourite beer - Splugen. Perhaps this is just slang localized to my first year university residence floor, but splooge was, er, let's just say that I know there is a pun about "head" somewhere in here, but I don't know if I want get into that. This is a family blog, if your family consists of the lonely readerless vacuum of the blogosphere.
Remaining in the gutter, we see that the Italian anti-muffa spray also works on "muschi", which, if you are a German female, is either a delightful proposition (if you have no idea what "muffa" is), or very disturbing (if you do), or very delightful (if you do, and that's your
thing, you perverts).
Partial explanation of troubles - that's right, a cheap, defective German-language DVD of learning Italian through dialogues of lusty Florentines behaving, well,
Italian.
(Please ignore dreadful stereotypes. I do not condone my writing.)
