Old Man and the Fountain
The Oltrarno Walk on the way to Piazzale Michelangelo I have heard it said over and over again that Paris is the most romantic city in the world.....
On Saturday night, Jason and I decided to take a walk up to the Piazza dell Michelangelo. Many of the guidebooks mention both the walk and the piazza, but do not ever really recommend taking the hike up there.
It was just about sunset as we set out on the Otrarno Walk. It meanders up the hillside, trees lining the street, with little glimpses of the city down below. All of the trees were in their fall glory, blazing against the sunset.
Up we walked.
And we walked. I did not think we were going to make it.
And then.
Ahh! It was worth it. Down below us, the city and the river glittered as the sun sunk in red and purple twilight just below the horizon. We sat down on the stairs already half full of people (mainly Americans!), also watching the nature show. We meanedered over to the little bar to buy a small bottle of chianti (what else?) to drink as we sat. We found a little stone bench to watch the ending

We reflected on the day, all of the sights we saw, what we wanted to do for the rest of the evening, and tomorrow, and how good the company had been.
It was all very good, we agreed. And with my hand in his, Jason asked, "Will you marry me?" Without hesitation I replied, "Yes, of course I will."
