We woke bright and early due to jet lag and had a coffee on the terrace looking at the spectacular view. This was followed by a wonderful breakfast at the hotel breakfast buffet and the weather was nice enough to eat out on the terrace.

Our first task of the day was to find the police station to report G's phone as lost so that we could claim on our travel insurance once we get back home. It turns out that the police were based on the other side of the town of Bellagio so we set out on a 2km walk to find them.
It was a great way to see parts of the town that we probably would not have seen if not for this errand. The police were quite funny. At first they were unwilling to be helpful but once we explained that we didn't want them to find the phone, just do a report, they were fine.

After we returned from the police we headed to the Bellagio Water Taxi pier for our Villa Balbianello Tour with Bellagio Water Taxis. This was a small group tour with only around a dozen people. We set

out along one side of the lake with Luca, our guide, who explained all the buildings and the history. He then dropped us off at the spectacular Villa Balbianello for our guided tour which lasted for around 45 minutes. We then had free time to wander the grounds of the villa before Luca picked us up again and we sailed back on the other side of the lake. This was a fantastic tour and a wonderful introduction to Lake Como.

We had a fairly forgettable lunch of Emilian style Lasagne at the Hotel Splendide before spending the afternoon wandering up and down the steep stairs of the town and discovering where the laundromat and enotecas were for the rest of our stay.

We ended a lovely day with and Aperol Spritz and aperitivo overlooking the lake in the hotel bar following by dinner at the restaurant next door, Suisse. I had a delicious chicken with tarragon sauce and after the meal we were given our first taste of limoncello – gorgeous.
