A walk through Santa Margherita Day 19 : Tuesday 24 September 2019 : Portofino We wandered into the heart of Santa Margherita, and thought about bussing it to Portofino, but decided by the time we worked it out, we could already be there. Besides, it’s another beautiful day in the land of Italy and the sun is shining off the water.
Okay, long walk, but so worth it. Paraggi Bay on the way to Portofino was magnificent and should never be missed. If I had to do it over, its definitely worth a swim…just dive on in. Never seen such inviting water, so deep, calm and clear azure blue. You just want to jump in. We decided we would swim on the way back, but you should never wait, take the moment! Magnificent walk over the hill and through the trees from Paraggi Bay to Portofino. Best part of the walk.
Oh my! What a gorgeous little town. Very $$$. Two cruise liners had come in so there were a lot of people milling around but it didn’t take away from its charm. Just magic! There’s some famous celebrities with houses here, and Kirsten found her home of the future. You can see

Santa Margherita why this piece of heaven is so exclusive. So many photos because it is truly gorgeous.
Supermarket for takeaway sandwiches, as the restaurants were expensive. Sitting on a wall overlooking the water, hard to complain. Ferried (€28) home to more wine with a view. Should’ve wandered up to the top and looked around, but never mind.
Slow wander via the supermarket (€30) home. We try the deli style pasta and sauces, including pesto. WOW, pasta and sauce was awesome. So much better than ours. Decide there needs to be a better walk home. We found a maze of laneways running between the houses up and down the hills, so much more interesting than the main road, but hard work.
Walked 10kms or 17500 steps and 53 floors. CC €88
Cash €47
