We had breakfast in Piazza Garabaldi then made our way to the port. We lined up and eventually a boat came in and the crowd reversed to line up to the other boat only to have a boat lady day saying we needed to line up as we were so the line reversed again in a frenzy. We got off at Portovenere and walked around. Between us we bought shoes, jackets, hats and backpack. Had lunch ink pasta, spaghetti clams. Chris asked 3 times for squid salad then Chris showed him on his phone and then the waiter said squid salad. Jan said what time is the boat before we realised we had to run in order to catch it. We were the last 4 on. We got off at Venezza and on the way out bought a gelato each. It wasn't raining we had dinner at the same spot. Next to us was a table reserved for Micky. Some ladies from Milan were persuasive and after 15 mins were given the table. We chatted with Anna over the night and at the end when they left she came and gave us all a hug and kiss
Nicoletta told us that
tomorrow was the lemon festival. All produce would be lemon based. So we decided that we would spend a short time discussing about whether we should stay for part of it.
We got up and walked down to have breakfast at the Cafe on the beach. We ordered coffee for Margy and stressed that we wanted half shot latte. When it came it was too strong so I asked for some extra hot milk. The lady's face was brill. Margy and I soon recalled that the staff from our previous time, like today, were rude. Chris and Jan rang their kids and we rang Kate and Ray. We made our way into piazza Garibaldi to see a buzz of people and stalls. We bought lemon based cakes and tarts ready for our trip. We chatted to a couple of guys behind the stall who spoke English. We went thru Piazza Garibaldi to see not too much more. So we went back to the guys who sold us the cake to ask if anything was happening. He said music and other shops pointing to the street where we had dinner the last two nights and we saw the restaurant open
with the crew dressed in yellow. I asked for a photo and they suggested under the arch. Further up the street there was a shop selling lemon juice and lemon juice with vodka (for a euro extra), guess what I drank? We made our way out of Monterosso against heaps of cars coming into the lemon festival. We soon realised that the petrol was running low. We didn't know if the gauge related to unleaded or gpl. We took a turn off to grab some petrol but unfortunately not gpl. I spoke to a lady who said she would lead me to the right spot. At the servo another lady explained the operation of gpl so we really helpful. We bought some coffee using Margy's milk. After a series of toll costs we reached our destination. The final street was a super medieval street so lucky to get car thru unscathed. The hosts spoke Jack english. Their daughter Piera We managed to get a restaurant to have dinner and the pizzas were massive.
