Rome day 1

Monday Oct 15th

Early start with a 1.5 hour high speed (155 mph) train ride to Rome. The ride was
smooth and quiet compared to the ride on the regional train to Pisa. After arrival took
the subway to our hotel near Vatican City. Then hopped on, what else, a bus. Again
the right route going the wrong direction only this time the bus went out-of-service
at the end of the route so we had to wait for the next one. Eventually got to
the Colosseum and took a tour that included the recently opened lower level. After
that had an early dinner and beer then wandered to end up at the Trevi fountain.
After 5 minutes there it started raining hard so we went to the nearest Metro
station and called it a night.
