Back in Dubrovnik, Croatia, we had made plans with our Australian friend Kate to meet in Rome. We had the same schedule for a full week so we decided to do it all together. We chose to meet at the Spanish Steps - and how fitting as it has been a meeting place for centuries. As all of us are on budgets, we went for a self guided walking tour c/o Kate´s lonely planet guide book. It seemed like a good idea until we realized our combined map reading skills were unsatisfactory. But not to worry, you just follow the signs...on occasion they were missed by all three of us...Anyways, we hit all the major attractions minus the Vatican which we reserved for tomorrow. We even hit two of the Piazzas in Angels and Demons by Dan Brown. The Bocca della Verita sculpture comes with a myth that you put your hand in its mouth and if you´re a liar, it stops you from removing your hand. Well, both Angele and I fit our hands in at the same time, we could´ve fit a few feet in as well. I guess there are no liars in Rome! After a good 8 hours of wandering, we figured it was time to head home. We parted and searched for food, pizza by our aunt´s house (bad idea!). We should´ve known better, there was food when we got home so we had 2 dinners that night, Italian and Filipino!
