After Pompeii we arrived in Sorrento where we spent 2 nights. Sorrento is at the start of the Amalfi coast and the scenery is amazing with views of the bay of Naples and Mt. Vesuvius. It’s amazing where they build the houses/hotels - perched right on the cliffs. It was a beautiful sunny day so we all spent the afternoon relaxing on the beach. We had a quick dip, enjoyed some drinks and Richie took on Kayla from Canada at beach volleyball. It was close but Canada won!

In the evening we decided to use our guide book to find a great restaurant in town. A few others on the trip didn’t take the dinner option that night so we went on a mission to find it. We walked probably half way across Sorrento until we found it, closed on Monday’s! We felt really bad as we had just lead 6 of our friends up the garden path! We then found a very cheap pasta shop close by which was awesome!

The following day (Happy b'day Scott!) we went to the VIP island of Capri. Unfortunately we didn’t see anyone famous. First off we went on a boat tour around the island. We circumnavigated the rugged island andwent under Lover's Arch where you are supposed to kiss (we obliged of course)! We stopped in a Marina Piccola where we decided to brave the crystal clear and COLD waster! We were the only crazy ones to get in. It didn’t take long to warm back up again in the sun, but the water temperature must have been a maximum of 12 degrees! Freezing!

The blue grotto was breathtaking!! Lysh thinks it’s the most beautiful thing she’s ever seen! The photos don’t do it justice! It costs an arm and leg to get into it (11.50 each) but it’s a must see! To get in you have to board a small boat and really duck your head and pray that you’re not claustrophobic! Once you’re inside it’s very dark but it's actually quite big and the glow from the water is unreal. Some of the boatmen sing inside and it feels like a dream! Luckily we had a nice man driving our boat however some of the rest of the group didn’t enjoy it so much as they were yelled at 😞

We also went to some other grottos which were accessible by the main boat - the orange grotto (because of coral along the rocks) and the green grotto because of the colour of the water. These were cool too but not as amazing as the blue grotto!

After the cruise 6 of us decided to hire scooters and explore the island. It was a great way to see more of Capri and loads of fun! We called out “bonjourno” to all of the locals along the way.

That night a few of us went into town and had our first of many contiki benders. Don’t worry we were still well behaved! Katia our tour manager was sick but one of her friends took us to an American bar. We had the dancefloor to ourselves for a while but then a bunch of school kids arrived. They must have been about 14-16 years old. They didn’t seem to be drinking but they’re very relaxed about that in Italy! It was a really fun night! Richie danced up on the pole with an Italian stallion and then decided to play DJ when the DJ decided to call it a night! Not sure if his song choice was
