Dear All Greetings in this, my third and final entry on my lovely little break on the Isle of Man. I shall relate my adventures on my third full day on the island, along with the day of my journey home. There is lots more to tell, and I visited even more of the island on my last two days. After another good night’s sleep in the annex, I walked again, this time only 20 minutes to a small village called The Hope, whereby I timed my arrival with another fairly rare bus that comes off the main Douglas-Peel road and picks up little people like me in the middle of the countryside once in a while. It was another 30-minute or so trip back into Douglas again, and upon arrival I decided to explore the ... read more

Another great breakfast, another lovely walk into Peel (on the correct paths); this time took the bus to Ramsey, mostly along the coast, seeing another part of the Isle on the way north. Map (https://www.gov.im/media/1347429/isle-of-man-bus-map.pdf) Peel is on the West side of the Isle, on the coast. Douglas is pretty much a 9-mile drive East of Peel, on the other coast. Ramsey is North of Douglas, along the east coast. Yesterday, we took a steam train south from Douglas, along the coast, to the south. Today, we took the bus north east from Peel to Ramsey, not quite the northern tip, then an electric train south along the East coast, stopping at Laxey to take another electric train westish up to the highest point on the Isle, Snaefell, then back down to Laxey and the rest ... read more

It just takes me a little time to appreciate some of the features of the Isle of Man. My trip up to Ramsey and Laxey are exemplary of that. Before I get into that, though, let me tell you about my morning... So, there was supposed to be a total solar eclipse today over the British Isles. I say "supposed," because I'll have to take everyone's word. As you can see from the picture, it was too cloudy to see anything, though I was told by some people that others on the island reported seeing it through tiny breaks in the clouds. Doubtful, but if it helps them sleep at night... So, I had ... read more

To Ramsey (Manx: Rhumsaa) we got by bus number 3 and we noticed weather were getting better, we saw blue sky in some interwals. We hadn't have there any significant attraction to see but I knew about Albert Tower and I mentioned my friend about it. This tower is made of granite and rising to 45 feet. It was built in 19th century (1847) to commemorate royal visit of Prince Albert and Queen Victoria. At first we walked around town centre until we reached to beach. Town is nice as each other on the island but we noticed Ramsey has less number of old buildings than the other towns. At the beach we noticed lighthouses and shortly after some young sand racers whose finished their racings on beach - that time wa low tide. When short ... read more
